Stars: Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Maria Carey, Nicki Minaj, Ryan Seacrest Airs: Wednesday and Thursdays on Fox @ 8 pm Original Telecast: Jan. 16, 2013 This is the worst time of the year for me. Football is slowly coming to an end. We have at least another two months of winter. All the major holidays are far away. And, yes, the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL, is back on the air. Yes, time for the most popular of the talent shows to once again give us a healthy dose of overexposure, bad auditions and not enough actual good singing. […]Read On »

She has also played many iconic heroic characters in her career. She likely will forever be most identified with her role as the single mom in E.T. – THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL but she’s also famous for (among other characters) her intrepid reporter checking out werewolves in […]Read On »

Desert Flower

Most film festivals like to wrap things up with a kind of ‘best of the fest’ summation. But what if a festival was the best of not just one fest but of many fests? Then they would be the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Now in its 24th year, Palm Springs’ festival is held January 3rd-14th and one could argue it’s the first big film festival of the year. But it’s not. Contrary to its date it’s really the last film festival of the year. Especially since Sundance starts a few weeks later and is the real official beginning […]Read On »

Harris Director: Miguel Arteta Network: CW Original Telecast: Jan. 14th, 2013 As a fan of SEX AND THE CITY no one could be more excited to see a new extraction from that series, until well, I actually did see that painful extraction. The show is a prequel and takes place in 1984 during the beginning of Carrie Bradshaw’s (AnnaSophia Robb) junior […]Read On »

TV News: DOWNTON ABBEY not to air at same time in U.S. on PBS as in UK

So it looks as if the American audience for DOWNTON ABBEY is going to have to be patient to see the next season in January again. Today at PBS’ executive session for the TCAS, President Paula Kerger explained why they place DOWNTON where they do in the schedule for the year. “This is a question of great debate, as to whether to try to bring the broadcast of the two together,” states Kerger.  “It’s complicated, for a lot of reasons.  One is that the version that airs in the UK airs with commercials, and we air ours without, so we […]Read On »

Irons is not completely bashing DOWNTON, but he does wish the American audience would broaden their viewing depth and check out the SHAKESPEARE series to see some of the best acting that Britain has to offer. “THE HOLLOW CROWN series is where you see some of the best British actors playing Shakespeare, is what it can do to open up to this huge American audience this gold dust.  Show them that, actually, television doesn’t end with DOWNTON ABBEY,” Irons laughs.  “If […]Read On »
