The interiors on the soundstages of Hollywood Red Studios for TNT’s MOB CITY, Wednesdays in two-hour blocks, are as elaborate as any feature film sets. For Frank Darabont’s tale of the Forties-era clash between Los Angeles mobsters and police, production designers Alex Hajdu and Gregory Melton have made sure that everything from the upscale clubs for the well-heeled to the scabby apartments of the desperate all have an accurate Forties look. The costumes designed by Giovanna Ottobre-Melton are similarly true to life. Robert Knepper, who plays Mob enforcer Syd Rothman, enthuses about Ottobre-Melton’s work, “The costumes are great. In MOB CITY, airing in three two-hour blocks on TNT on successive Wednesdays beginning tonightat 9 PM, some of the characters are fictional, like Jon Bernthal’s protagonist, LAPD Detective Joe Teague. However, some of the characters on both sides of the law in the Forties L.A./mobster noir drama, created by Frank Darabont based on John Buntin’s book, are taken from history. Ben “Bugsy” Siegel (Ed Burns) and Mickey Cohen (Jeremy Luke) made their mark in the annals of organized crime, while soon-to-be-LAPD Chief William Parker would someday have Parker Center named for him. Neal McDonough portrays Parker as the man’s […]Read On »

What we do know is that Quinn is willing to go against orders when he believes they’re wrong, willing to threaten a superior who he believe is acting from pride rather than national protection, and that he’s willing to shoot to wound friend Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) when he thinks she’s jeopardizing a mission. Eric Winter in WITCHES OF EAST END - Season 1 | ©2013 Lifetime

Eric Winter was brought to the attention of the WITCHES OF EAST END producers, according to Lifetime executive vice-president and general manager Rob Sharenow, because the actor attended a Christmas party with his wife Rosalyn Sanchez, who is a regular on Lifetime’s DEVIOUS MAIDS. Sharenow tells the press, “All the Lifetime women thought he was so hot that we had to have him on a show. So there you go.” Has Winter heard this explanation for how he wound up on WITCHES? “I pitched that introduction,” Winters jokes. “I found out about it actually a little bit earlier today. It sure seems like it could be a possibility given the latest flashback was six years prior to the black out. If we add the 15 years after the blackout where the series currently takes place, Charlie is […]Read On »

TV Review: MARVEL’S AGENTS OF SHIELD – Season 1 – “The Well”

A Norwegian anarchist fights for an Asgardian staff in MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD "The Well" | (c) 2013 ABC/Ron Tom

That’s a sad state for a show that exists in the Marvel universe filled with … wait for it. Come closer. No, closer. FREAKING […]Read On »

Wyman Director: Brad Anderson Network: Airs on Fox, Mondays @ 8 p.m. Original Telecast: Nov. 17, 2013 ALMOST HUMAN plays very much like a modern BLADE RUNNER in a variety of ways. It is the future where man and machine are intertwined like never before. There are synthetics that exist in our daily lives – this time, however, as part of the police force rather than outlaws. Crime is at an all time high. There is a blend of cultures on the streets. The drama doesn’t play […]Read On »
