Greenberg    Director: Constantine Makris Network: Syfy, Mondays @ 9 PM Airdate: Aug 13, 2012 I have such conflicting emotions where WAREHOUSE 13 is concerned. I like the series for the most part, and now that we’re in the fourth season there is a style and rhythm all it’s own for this show. (and now you hear the ‘but’ coming) However, I’m just not sure what this series is trying to be. When it started out […]Read On »

Movie Review: THE APPARITION

By RACHEL REITSLEFF 08/24/2012
THE APPARITION | (c) 2012 Warner Bros

Rating: PG-13 Stars: Ashley Greene, Sebastian Stan, Tom Felton Writer: Todd Lincoln Director: Todd Lincoln Distributor: Warner Bros. Release Date: Aug. 24, 2012 THE APPARITION owes a fair bit to the original PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, though it is not (much) a found footage film. Borrowing between horror movies isn’t necessarily a bad thing – last year’s INSIDIOUS had plenty of inspirations and still managed to be very scary – but it can be a problem when the project in question relies on a memorable piece of lore from another source as a primary plot twist. Other issues here are that writer/director […]Read On »

Stars: Anson Mount, Colm Meaney, Common, Dominique McElligott, Tom Noonan, Christopher Heyerdahl Writer:  John Shiban  Director: Adam Davidson    Network: AMC, airs Sunday nights Original Telecast: August 19, 2012 Well at the end of the last episode of HELL ON WHEELS we left Cullen Bohannan (Anson Mount) in a bit of a bad spot, which is pretty much where the new episode “Durant, Nebraska” picks up…but I want to actually talk about another moment of this episode first. There is a really well shot, completely speechless moment between Bohannan and the Swede (Christopher Heyerdahl) after Bohannan has surveyed his new living […]Read On »

Stars:  Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn Writer: Gennifer Hutchison Director: Colin Bucksey Network: AMC, airs Sunday Nights Original Telecast: August 19, 2012  How gullible is Jesse Pinkman?  In “Buyout,” Jesse, (played, as usual, with a mesmerizing intensity by Aaron Paul), is tortured by the horrific aftermath of last episode’s train heist, and he seems to have finally realized that in order to save himself unending emotional pain, he’s got to get out of the crystal meth trade.  But will he?  “Buyout” leaves open the possibility that, whatever Jesse’s conscience might be telling him about Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston’s) potential […]Read On »
