Car Review: 2015 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE ES

The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES | ©2015 Mitsubishi

On first impression, the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES is an odd bird of a car. When it arrived for review with its Kiwi Green coloring (I like to call it Lime) and compact size, it came across as almost too small and basic of a vehicle. Yet, for all its no frills aura, the Mirage ES is actually a pretty decent car for those needing a  starter vehicle to get the job done and allow you to get to your destinations. For this test, I took the Mirage from Los Angeles to Northern California. It was a quick trip, and […]Read On »

Gimple Director: Greg Nicotero Network: AMC, airs Sunday @ 9:00 p.m. Original Telecast: Feb. 8, 2015 Warning massive show spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk. I truly enjoy THE WALKING DEAD but sometimes they outthink themselves. Take “What Happened and What’s Going On?” for instance. I get that they needed a reflection-type episode given all the high drama and loss that has been going on since […]Read On »

Movie Review: ALIEN OUTPOST

Alien Outpost | © 2015 IFC Midnight

Rating: Not Rated Stars: Reiley McClendon, Rick Ravanello, Douglas Tait, Joe Regan, Sven Ruygrok Writers: Blake Clifton & Jabbar Raisani Director: Jabbar Raisani Distributor: IFC Midnight Release Date: January 30, 2015 It’s hard to tell whether ALIEN OUTPOST is intended as a metaphor for how terrorist cells convert and/or conscript ordinary civilians to attack U.S. military outposts and how bad things can get when an installation is considered low-priority by the brass, or whether the filmmakers were consciously going for some traditional low-budget sci-fi movie concepts. For that matter, it’s hard to tell a lot of things about ALIEN OUTPOST, […]Read On »

Movie Review: THE BOY NEXT DOOR

THE BOY NEXT DOOR movie poster | ©2015 Universal Pictures

Back in the day, there were a lot more “woman in jeopardy” medium-budget thrillers and far fewer people questioned their underlying messages (unless the movies were made by someone like Alfred Hitchcock, in which case they were generally considered to be in some other genre). In 2015, though, when Jennifer Lopez stars in THE BOY NEXT DOOR, it’s hard not to have questions about exactly what’s being said here, especially when an end tag informs us that the story is based on real events. Lopez plays high school English teacher Claire Peterson, separated from her husband Garrett (John Corbett) for […]Read On »
