BONES, Fox’s medical/FBI procedural romantic dramedy based on the works of Kathy Reichs, is now in its tenth season and celebrates its 200th episode Thursday, December 11 at 8 PM. To mark the occasion, the episode, entitled “The 200th in the 10th,” puts the regular cast in an alternate reality, with David Boreanaz, who usually plays FBI Agent Seeley Booth, as a charming jewel thief, and Emily Deschanel, who portrays forensic anthropology expert Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, as an LAPD detective.
Tamara Taylor, who has been playing laboratory chief Dr. Camille Saroyan since the start of BONES’ second season, can’t say what sort of alternate persona she may enact for the special episode. However, at a party thrown by Fox for the Television Critics Association, she’s happy to discuss other aspects of what’s going on with Cam.
ASSIGNMENT X: Going into Season 10, Booth was in jail and Brennan, his wife, was working to get him freed. She was also very upset. How was Cam dealing with that?
TAMARA TAYLOR: I think Cam [was] empathizing with her, because it’s a pretty serious situation, and she [was] handling herself with as much grace as could be expected, given the circumstances.
AX: With Brennan and Booth married and TJ Thyne’s Hodgins and Michaela Conlin’s Angela also married, it seems like Cam and her boyfriend, lab intern Arastoo, played by Pej Vahdat, are carrying the banner for new romance this season. How are you enjoying playing that storyline?
TAYLOR: Oh, my God. Pej – love him. He’s one of the most talented actors I’ve ever worked with, he’s so good. It’s been so much fun. I got to work with Shohreh Agdashloo [who guest-starred as Arastoo’s mother], which was amazing, and I look forward to seeing where they take it this season.
AX: So we may see Arastoo’s parents again?
TAYLOR: Yeah, I think we’ll be seeing them again. I think it’s going a little deeper and farther.
AX: Do you have a favorite episode from Season 9?
TAYLOR: Oh, my gosh. I think my favorite episode that I got to do was probably the outbreak episode [“The Pathos in the Pathogens”]. That’s the one that Chad Lowe directed, where [Arastoo] almost died. That was very intense and very fun to work on.
AX: Do you have any other projects going on that we should know about?
TAYLOR: I just managed to fit a couple of fun things into my break. I did a couple of small parts in a couple of independent films, one called AUGUST FALLS, and the other one called ANA MARIA.
AX: As of right now, Fox Broadcasting Chairman Peter Rice has said he’d be open to more seasons of BONES. What do you think?
TAYLOR: I guess we’ll just see how it goes this season and cross our fingers. I know that we’d be open to it.
AX: Do you want to keep going?
TAYLOR: I would. I have so much fun with everybody. It’s been a fun ride, so if we get to do it another season, why not?
AX: Is there anything else you’d like to say about BONES Season 10?
TAYLOR: I’m just ready to have a blast.
