Interview: THE POSSESSION composer Anton Sanko finds a new sound for exorcism

THE POSSESSION soundtrack | ©2012 Lionsgate Records

When the word “exorcism” is bandied about, the movie-consecrated sights and sounds that seize us are usually comprised of tubular bells, bloodied crucifixes, shrieking dissonance, the shock of grotesquely wrenched bodies, feverish violins and the tormented cries of pubescent girls and their distraught parents. And while THE POSSESSION might have just a few of these stocks in horror trade, what impresses is the leap of faith it’s taken with the same old song and spew- that being of the demon’s transference to the Jewish religion, as trapped inside a “Dybbuk Box” (which once served as the film’s original title). Found […]Read On »

Movie Review: THE WORDS

THE WORDS movie poster | ©2012 CBS Films

Simmons, Lee Sternthal Writers: Brian Klugman & Lee Sternthal Directors: Brian Klugman & Lee Sternthal Distributor: CBS Films Release Date: September 7, 2012 No one can fault THE WORDS for ambition, either as a film itself or in its eagerness to examine exactly what ambition means. It therefore gets points up front for being a film that wants to look at why people do what they do, even when their actions wind up putting them at odds with the results they ultimately […]Read On »

Stars: Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gray, Murray Hamilton Writers: Peter Benchley, Carl Gottlieb based on the novel by Peter Benchley Director: Steven Spielberg Suggested Retail Price: $29.98 For those of us who have lived through the VHS incarnations, the DVD versions and the super special remastered DVD versions of our favorite movies, the excitement level for new format re-releases does feel anti-climactic at times. Selma Blair in ANGER MANAGEMENT - Season 1 | ©2012 FX

ANGER MANAGEMENT has had ten successful episodes on FX basic cable. As ANGER MANAGEMENT creator/executive producer Bruce Helford points out, the series is produced at an accelerated speed, shooting two episodes a week. “There’s no real rehearsal for the show,” he explains. “Literally, the actors get the lines, we see the scene on its feet, […]Read On »
