British actor Damian Lewis took home this year for Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama for his portrayal of Nicholas Brody, American war hero turned secret terrorist in Season 1 of Showtime’s HOMELAND. The show also won five other Emmys, including Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Actress for Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, the CIA agent who is onto Brody – but also carries a torch for him. At today’s TCA Cable Press Tour, BBC America announced they will be embarking on a co-production with BBC One of MUSKETEERS – a new series written by Adrian Hodges (PRIMEVAL, SURVIVORS). The series will debut in 2014 and is inspired by the classic Alexandre Dumas novel THE THREE MUSKETEERS. Although set in the 17th Century, the series will bring a more contemporary and realistic take on the story of a “trained band of brothers who are assigned to protect King and country” as the press release says. TCA 2012 News: Showtime talks about its CONQUEST series with director Ron Howard

While director Ron Howard has been interested in television for awhile (his shelved adaptation of Stephen King’s THE DARK TOWER was to span both movies and a TV series), he’s now moving his attention to helm a new Showtime series called CONQUEST. To be written by Jose Rivera the series will focus on Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes and his battles with Aztec empire ruler Moctezuma II.
