Rating: PG-13 Stars: Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst, Oscar Isaac, David Warshofsky Writer: Hossein Amini, based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith Director: Hossein Amini Distributor: Magnolia Pictures Release Date: September 26, 2014 If Alfred Hitchcock were in a low-key mood – no crop-dusters or briefcase bombs – he might have made something like THE TWO FACES OF JANUARY, the directing debut of Hossein Amini, who adapted the screenplay from Patricia Highsmith’s novel. In fact, Amini has taken pains to make JANUARY look as though it was made in the year it takes place, 1962, when Hitchcock was still active, with […]Read On »

GOTHAM logo | ©2014 Fox

Fox’s GOTHAM, premiering Monday, September 22 at 8 PM, depicts Bruce Wayne as a teen orphan played by David Mazouz, before he dons Batman’s cowl. This might draw comparisons to SMALLVILLE, which dramatized the early life of Superman, another DC Comics hero, but GOTHAM has a much more adult feel. Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) – who BATMAN fans know will one day become Gotham City’s police commissioner – is at the center of the action, surrounded by people who give indications that they will someday become iconic figures in this universe, including Catwoman, the Penguin and the Riddler. Thanks […]Read On »

In fact, the movie, written by Dan Schaffer and directed by John Suits, has plots that crisscross so much that they tend to cancel one another out, even though it looks as though the effect is meant to be cumulative. The primary and most intriguing notion here is that Suki (Katie Cassidy), already […]Read On »
