CD Review: Thomas Dolby – A MAP OF THE FLOATING CITY

Thomas Dolby - THE MAP OF THE FLOATING CITY | ©2011 RedEye

Distributor: RedEye Suggested Retail Price: $14.36 Thomas Dolby may be best known for his 1982 pop hit “She Blinded My With Science,” but anyone who has dug deeper into his catalog has discovered a wealth of wonderfully eclectic and cleverly constructed tracks. I’ll always had a place in my heart for “My Brain is Like A Sieve” from his 1988 release ALIENS ATE MY BUICK and it always reminds me there was more going on with this artist than he was given credit for. However, his studio output has been few and far between, with his last official release being […]Read On »

Emily’s goal is to get revenge (see the title) on the people who sent her beloved father to jail for life and ruined her younger years. There’s plenty of collateral damage, but Emily’s principal target is Madeleine Stowe’s character Victoria Grayson, who rules the enclave as its unofficially anointed queen. Stowe, a Los Angeles native, had audiences swooning as the heroine in LAST OF THE MOHICANS. […]Read On »

Now, we just gotta eliminate another five in order to get to the Top 12. Top 12 eh? Where have I heard that before? Okay, the truth comes out, I am a world-class weenie and creepy stuff just plain freaks me. Do. Not. Like. It. However, it’s CASTLE, and even if I don’t like scary stuff, the episode was nonetheless outstanding. When the star of a ghost hunting TV show gets murdered in the house he’s investigating, it looks more […]Read On »

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 7 – “Shut Up, Dr. Phil”

James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter in SUPERNATURAL - Season 7 - "Shut Up, Dr. Phil" | ©2011 The CW/Jack Rowand

Stars: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Sean Owen Roberts Writers: Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming, series created by Eric Kripke Director: Phil Sgriccia Network: The CW, Fridays @ 9 PM Original Telecast: October 21, 2011 When supernatural shows that are usually dark with hints of humor decide to be lighthearted without committing to going gonzo, the results are usually lightweight. That’s in one way the case with SUPERNATURAL’s episode “Shut Up, Dr. Phil,” but on the other hand, anything that brings together BUFFY and ANGEL alumni James Marsters (Spike) and Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) automatically has worthwhile qualities.
