AREA 51 movie poster | ©2011 After Dark Films

Stars: Vanessa Branch, Bruce Boxleitner, Rachel Miner, Jason London, John Shea Writer: Kenny Yakkel, story by Lucy Mukerjee Director: Jason Connery Network: Syfy, Saturday @ 9 PM Airdate: February 26, 2011 Movies that premiere Saturday nights on Syfy have a tendency to be, well, bad. Sometimes they’re so bad they’re wonderful (SHARKTOPUS was one of the great schlock joys of recent memory), but it’s still something of a surprise to see a Syfy Saturday premiere that’s actually good, with no qualifiers. AREA 51 deposits us at that famous Air Force base in the Nevada desert (actually filmed in Baton Rouge, […]Read On »

Smith Director: Michael Katleman Network: The CW, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: February 24th, 2010 One of the best episodes this season “The House Guest” proved to be full of all kinds of twists and turns and surprises. Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is still dead on the floor of Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) basement dungeon and that’s kind of a problem since he’s virtually indestructible and if anyone removes the dagger he comes back to […]Read On »

How many times must we see the same clip over and over again? They showed it like 20 times on Wednesday leading up to the actual moment and then for the previews for this episode.  Then we see it again for what seemed to be a dozen times in the beginning. We get it. […]Read On »

The Dork Side: Let’s get ranty with the STARS, the Oscars, BEASTLY & more

BEASTLY movie poster | ©2011 CBS Films

I’m sorry, but I couldn’t limit my ranting to just one subject this week. There are just too many things that make me ranty. Dancing with the Polarizing Political Figures Professional witch-denier and all-around dummy Christine O’Donnell says she has been approached to be on ABC’s DANCING WITH THE STARS. In a related story, I’m going to file a class action suit against ABC for claiming that this show features stars. Christine O’Donnell? Really? What, you couldn’t get Michael Vick? ABC, have you thought about asking Ben Roethlisberger? If you are lucky, he might even rape one of your dancers. […]Read On »

Stars: Tom Cruise, Dustin Hoffman, Valeria Golino Writers: Ronald Bass and Barry Morrow, based on a story by Morrow Director: Barry Levinson Distributor: MGM Home Entertainment Suggested Retail Price: $19.99 Director Barry Levinson is one of the most underrated directors – EVER. TV Review: AMERICAN IDOL – Season 10 – “Las Vegas Round”

Contestants compete in the Las Vegas round of AMERICAN IDOL by performing Beatles songs on the Cirque du Soleil LOVE stage | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

You have access to the Beatles catalog.

We know. You’ve only shoved it down our throats year-after-year and letting us hear some of our favorite songs of all time get butchered again and again.

Yet, instead of taking a different tack and maybe doing a nice U2 night or an Aerosmith night (I mean come on you have Steven Tyler sitting right there), or a Chicago night, or even a freaking Metallica night, we once again get the Beatles.

Last week ran the borderline with the title “Comeback”, and this week’s show “Blame it on the Alcohol” was just one messy step from being an ABC After School Special. I honestly hate that […]Read On »
