Welcome to Part Two of our exclusive interview with EUREKA co-creator/executive producer/show runner Jaime Paglia, where he talks about the “extra” episode, the animated episode we got, the musical episode we didn’t get, and his directorial debut with the body-swapping “Jack of All Trades” episode. ASSIGNMENT X: Was there any danger of EUREKA ending with the end of Season Four? JAMIE PAGLIA: We sure hoped not. AX: EUREKA has been a ratings success for Syfy. Can you explain why it was canceled? PAGLIA: If you look at our budget and say, “Okay, we’re doing fine with our numbers and …” You’re making money, […]Read On »

PROMETHEUS movie poster | ©2012 20th Century Fox

Rating: R Stars: Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Logan Marshall-Green, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall Writers: Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof Director: Ridley Scott Distributor: Twentieth Century Fox Release Date: June 8, 2012 Prior to PROMETHEUS, director Ridley Scott has, in his prolific career, made only two other science fiction films. However, those two films were ALIEN and BLADE RUNNER. It’s hard to imagine what current science fiction (and, in the case of ALIEN, creature horror) films would look like without those two seminal features in the canon, except to say that things would be different. TV Review: THE CHOICE – Season 1 – Series Premiere

By CARL CORTEZ 06/08/2012
Cat Deeley in THE CHOICE - Season 1 - Series Premiere | ©2012 Fox/Michael Becker

Star: Cat Deeley Network: Fox, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: June 7, 2012 First THE VOICE introduced the concept of spinning chairs into a musical competition format. Now THE CHOICE does the same thing – but for the dating world. The end result – an annoying series about talentless hotties who vie for the opportunity to go on a date with guys, who probably are better off not dating non-celebrities. The first group of guys include Romeo, Jeremy Bloom, DJ Pauly D and Jason Cook and the concept is simple — with their backs turned in their slightly less state-of-the-art […]Read On »

Interview: Jared Harris on his MAD MEN exit

By ABBIE BERNSTEIN
Jared Harris in MAD MEN - Season 5 - "Commissions and Fees" | ©2012 AMC/Jordin Althaus

Alas, Lane Pryce. The intriguing if not always sympathetic character on AMC’s MAD MEN, a tamped-down financial whiz who turned his back on his bosses back in England to join with the upstart leadership of the breakaway new ad agency made more than a few mistakes that came back to haunt him. After three seasons on MAD MEN, Pryce made a statement to his erstwhile colleagues in Sunday’s episode “Commissions and Fees” – by hanging himself in his office. Actor Jared Harris, who has played Pryce Seasons Three through Five of MAD MEN, knows how to keep a secret. He […]Read On »

The series made its debut on MTV last summer and proved to be one of the smartest, well-made […]Read On »

TV Review: DUETS – Season 1 – “Songs That Inspire”

By CARL CORTEZ
John Glosson and Jennifer Nettles perform on DUETS - Season 1 - Week 3 - "Songs That Inspire" | ©2012 ABC/Kelsey McNeal

Cast: Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, John Legend, Robin Thicke, Quddus Network: ABC, Thursday nights Original Telecast: June 7, 2012 DUETS continues its downward spiral with another week of frustrating song choices. Song choice is still a big issue with these shows and many contestants suffered this week because of this. The theme this week is “Songs That Inspire.” Did I see this theme eight times last season on AMERICAN IDOL? Can’t anyone come up with anything new? How about “Elvis Costello Week” or something more challenging? Ugh. Still no public voting unfortunately – so the show proves to be a […]Read On »
