here Jerry Goldsmith was lionized for any number of inventive, mainstream scores like BASIC INSTINCT, TOTAL RECALL and THE WIND AND THE LION, the composer had an equal knack for embodying idiosyncratic characters for movies well below the widely accepted radar like UNDER FIRE, THE SALAMANDER and THE TRAVELING EXECUTIONER. Goldsmith’s creativity flowed with noticeable enthusiasm for these soundtracks where he could show off his devilishly clever humor and emotional resonance, whether accompanying an orangutan manservant or a mystical albino.   Outside of Disney, animated films are either hit or miss when it comes delivering something you as a parent can feel good about letting your children watch. THE STUFF is one of those classic 80s flicks that has a lot going for it. First of all it is a mixture of both THE BLOB and zombie flicks but also a crack in the ribs at consumerism that was one of the general themes of many horror flicks back during the era.   THE REVENANT is a pretty amazing film from a variety of perspectives. Not only does it capture the beauty of the American Pacific Northwest during winter in the 1820s where pelters are encroaching on Native American territory, but it also captures the harsh and brutality of the wilderness and the danger involved in such endeavors.
