PBS’ MAKERS: WOMEN WHO MAKE AMERICA began last year as a three-hour documentary. This year, it’s back as a six-part series, focusing on women in various arenas, including politics, space, war, comedy, business and Hollywood. The “Women in Hollywood” segment airs Tuesday, October 7. Screenwriter/playwright Linda Woolverton is one of the interviewees. GRACEPOINT, the ten-episode miniseries airing in weekly installments on Fox beginning Thursday, October 2, is based on the eight-part British miniseries BROADCHURCH. In both, a young boy is found murdered in a small coastal town and in both, an outside police detective is brought in to supervise the case. He works with a local female police detective whose young son was the victim’s best friend. When executive producer Sarah Timberman first optioned Thomas Maier’s nonfiction book MASTERS OF SEX, a biography of sex research pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson, she knew the material had potential.
