UNDER THE DOME (based on the novel by Stephen King) was such a big hit last summer that CBS decided to make it a returning summer series. Who was not rooting for everyone in the town of Chester’s Mill and booing the character portrayed by Dean Morris, James ‘Big Jim’ Rennie? We got a chance to catch up with Dean at the CBS Summer Press Day cocktail party at The London Hotel to talk about his character and see if I could pry any secrets about the new season which debuts Monday, June 30 on CBS and is written by […]Read On »

CD Review: CREEPSHOW soundtrack (3,000 edition)

CREEPSHOW soundtrack | ©2014 La La Land Records

From the time when the denizens of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD shambled through its farmhouse field to the tune of creature feature stock music, George Romero’s horror films have had a pulp throwback feel to them that recalled the graphic, moral comeuppance of such E.C. comics as “Tales From the Crypt” and “Vault of Horror.” So it was only natural that the filmmaker would unleash his own cinematic, blood-colored anthology with 1982s CREEPSHOW, authored by no less than Stephen King. It’s a film that for many remains the director’s most unhinged and pleasurable effort, especially with its seamless combination […]Read On »

Dean Norris as Big Jim on UNDER THE DOME "Curtains" | (c) 2013 CBS/Brownie Harris

Cast: Dean Norris, Rachelle Lefevre, Alexander Koch, Mike Vogel, Natalie Martinez, Aisha Hinds, Jolene Purdy, Britt Robinson Writer: Brian K. Vaughn, Scott Gold Director: Jack Bender Network: CBS, airs Mondays @ 10 p.m. Original Telecast: Sept. 16, 2013 Considering UNDER THE DOME already got renewed by CBS for presumably a return in the summer of 2014, the producers apparently thought they could go out with a defined whimper instead of anything resembling a proper cliffhanger season finale. The season finale of the show, entitled “Curtains,” was a complete mess. Whereas the previous last four episodes have actually improved the show […]Read On »

At today’s CBS Summer TCA press tour, CBS Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves announced that the hit Stephen King summer series UNDER THE DOME will return again next summer. “It’s official, and Stephen King will be writing the first episode of that 13-episode arc,” says Moonves. “We’re really proud of  what UNDER THE DOME has done. It sort of changed the face of summer television. The highest premiere of a drama, since, I think, 1992. It’s the way television should be. It’s the way television can be. Obviously it’s a very different model.” With summer programming being […]Read On »

Or lack of it. While UNDER THE DOME may be interesting from a pure storyline point-of-view, the acting and dialogue in the first two episodes is […]Read On »
