Jensen Ackles in SUPERNATURAL - Season 9 - "Bad Boys" | ©2013 The CW/Liane Hentscher

Stars: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Kim Rhodes, Lindy Booth, Susie Abremeit Writer: Jenny Klein, series created by Eric Kripke Director: John MacCarthy Network: The CW, Tuesdays @ 9 PM Original Airdate: November 26, 2013 Now and then, in its TV-14 way, SUPERNATURAL likes to get its porn on (one could call it porn parody, but that’s redundant). There are jokes aplenty, the odd magazine and of course the message/clip that the Angel Gabriel left for the Winchesters in “Hammer of the Gods.” In “Rock and a Hard Place,” Dean (Jensen Ackles) himself gets in on the action, and though the […]Read On »

Orlando Jones in SLEEPY HOLLOW - Season 1 | ©2013 Fox/Brownie Harris

It’s a strong, intriguing episode, albeit it’s just a little lower on humor than this series customarily provides. “Necromancer” picks up where last week’s […]Read On »

PRINGLES CINNAMON & SUGAR limited edition crisps | ©2013 Pringles

Manufacturer: Pringles Suggested Retail Price: $1.99 While PRINGLES remains one of the most addictive canned crisps around, the company is always reinventing the brand with new flavors and special limited edition flavors. Last year, they tested the waters with three different types of dessert crisps – PUMPKIN PIE SPICE, WHITE CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT and CINNAMON & SUGAR. While we didn’t get a chance to sample these chips last year, we did check out the one mainstay from last year CINNAMON & SUGAR (which is joined this year by limited edition PECAN PIE and WHITE CHOCOLATE flavors). The result? An utter disaster. […]Read On »

CD Review: THANKS FOR SHARING soundtrack

THANKS FOR SHARING soundtrack | ©2013 Milan Records

If there’s one addiction that it’s hard to think there’s ever too much of, then it’s likely sex addiction. So understandably, that clinically diagnosed affliction is often mocked by mainstream Hollywood, especially since it usually happens to befall incredibly good looking actors we don’t mind seeing have continuous sex. Given that cinematic problem (one that’s slightly remedied here with the casting of Josh Gad), one can only imagine the score that a comedy-centric composer like Christopher Lennertz might unleash on THANKS FOR SHARING. But as opposed to the rambunctious orchestrations of MARMADUKE or the dirty retro funk of IDENTITY THIEF, […]Read On »

CD Review: KISS OF THE DAMNED soundtrack

KISS OF THE DAMNED soundtrack | ©2013 Soraya Recordings

A new wave of artsy filmmakers are paying tribute to the pop art Euro-horror movies of the late 60s and early 70s with AMER and BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO whose Shagadelic scores at least succeeded in being enjoyably tributes to the likes of Ennio Morricone, Fabio Frizzi and Goblin. But there’s a big difference between creating an impressive, intellectual music exercise for homages that don’t cinematically get it for all of their arch hipness. But for Xan Cassavetes’ infinitely more successful KISS OF THE DAMNED, Steve Hufsteter has come up with a score that has real retro heart. John Cassavetes talented daughter riffs […]Read On »
