Melissa Leo won a Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in THE FIGHTER as Alice Ward, the real-life mother of prize fighter Mickey Ward, played in the film by Mark Wahlberg. Alice is a tough customer, which describes many of the characters played by the New York-born Leo, including her Baltimore police detective in five seasons of HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS and her New Orleans flood survivor Toni Bernette in HBO’s TREME. “Tough” is perhaps the mildest way to refer to Leo’s Nurse Pam on Fox’s WAYWARD PINES, Thursdays at 9 PM. In Fox’s miniseries WAYWARD PINES, Thursdays at 9 PM, Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) is understandably upset. Not only is he trapped in the title town, where people are executed over transgressions like referring to their lives pre-arrival, but he finds his partner/ex-lover Kate Hewson (Carla Gugino) claiming she’s lived here for twelve years, even though she’s only been missing a few weeks. Morever, Kate says she’s been married for years to local toymaker Harold Balinger, played by Reed Diamond. Native New Yorker Diamond is no stranger to television or to genre. He was one of the starring […]Read On »

In CBS’ new drama series RECKLESS, Sundays at 9 PM, scandal rips through Charleston, South Carolina. When a (possibly nonconsensual) sex tape involving a number of police officers – multiple men with one woman (Georgina Haig) – surfaces, it leads to a firing, a lawsuit and a clash between a Yankee plaintiff lawyer (Anna Wood) and an aspiring politician representing the police department’s interests (Cam Gigadet). Shawn Hatosy (pronounced HAT-oh-see) plays Terry McCandless, the officer who is the evident ringleader in what’s happening on the tape. Hatosy is no stranger to playing law enforcement personnel – he starred in five […]Read On »
