HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN has not been one of CBS’ sitcom success stories. The half-hour comedy, starring David Hornsby as ultra-polite Andrew and Kevin Dillon as Andrew’s former high school tormentor-turned quasi-life coach, ends its nine-episode run this Saturday night. However, Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays Andrew’s ultra-assertive sister Janet, is unlikely to be slowed down by GENTLEMAN’s gentle exit. The actress can currently be seen on the big screen as an acerbic newspaper editor in SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED and stars in two Web series. One is DIRTY WORK, about a crime scene cleanup crew; the other is DICKI, […]Read On »

A CBS spokesman has confirmed that both of these shows are fake and this press release is the network’s tongue-in-cheek response to losing their legal battle […]Read On »

Cobie Smulders has long been hailed for her comedic prowess as Robin Sherbatsky on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, now gearing up for its eighth season on CBS. However, with writer/director Joss Whedon’s box-office superhero THE AVENGERS from Disney and Marvel, Smulders shows off her action star side as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, running, sliding and shooting with the best of them. There are big differences in doing a weekly TV comedy series and a giant studio action feature film, Smulders notes. “It’s definitely a shift in schedule,” says Smulders. “I made it a point to do a lot of […]Read On »

Relatively few actresses create three indelible characters in their careers, but Alyson Hannigan has managed this hat trick and may well enact more in her future. Hannigan, born in Washington, D.C.and raised in Atlanta, started her career early, appearing in commercials before moving into films (including MY STEPMOTHER IS AN ALIEN) and television (FREE SPIRIT). Then, in 1997, Hannigan began her seven-season run as BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER’s Willow Rosenberg, who started as a shy brainy high school student and became a very powerful witch, along with achieving real-world lesbian icon status when the character came out. Willow lives on […]Read On »

Furthermore, it’s not so much about the “gentleman” in question teaching his manners to anyone, but rather […]Read On »

Stars: Patrick Wilson, Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Rachel Lefevre, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber Writer: Susannah Grant Director: Jonathan Demme Network: CBS, Fridays @ 8 PM Original Telecast: September 23, 2011 CBS has had very good luck with ghosts in its Friday 8 PM time slot – GHOST WHISPERER ran for five seasons – so it makes sense for them to put A GIFTED MAN there. However, unlike the older show’s Melinda Gordon, MAN’s protagonist, surgeon Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), can only see one ghost. We see Michael at work being rude, pushy, oblivious to others, even to his terrific secretary […]Read On »

TV Review: PERSON OF INTEREST – Season 1 – “Pilot” – Series Premiere

Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson in PERSON OF INTEREST - Season 1 | ©2011 CBS/Michael Muller

Stars: Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Taraji P. Henson Writer: Jonathan Nolan Director: David Semel Network: CBS, Thursdays @ 9 PM Original Telecast: September 22, 2011 This isn’t (so far as we know) real, but it certainly sounds plausible – what if the government commissioned a tech genius to invent software that could isolate possible terrorist “chatter”? And what if that software included an element that was later discarded, which also picked up indications of non-terrorist crimes about to be committed? So far, so good with writer Jonathan Nolan’s premise (he shares creator status with J.J. Abrams) for PERSON OF INTEREST, […]Read On »
