On Fox’s GOTHAM, in its first season Mondays at 8 PM and already renewed for a second, we are in the world of young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) as he slowly learns the life lessons that will later allow him to become Batman. We also meet the incipient versions of a number of Batman’s future adversaries. Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) has already adopted the moniker the Penguin and morgue worker Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) loves posing riddles. Of all of Batman’s nemeses, his relationship with Catwoman is perhaps the most complex. Camren Bicondova’s teen Selina Kyle has quite […]Read On »

Fox has been slowly building its portfolio of shows over the last few years with a group of sitcoms, some good dramas and a very strong sports package. Of course, many of the promising series the network created have been shuffled off to deadsville. But mostly, the network has been garnering some strength in its programming and even bringing back some old favorites – 24 was brought back earlier this year (considered last year’s season) and was a smashing success. Now, going into the 2014-2015 season, what new shows do we have to look forward to and what are their […]Read On »

CD Review: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES soundtrack

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES soundtrack | ©2012 Watertower Music

The swelling, patriotic heroism that John Williams gave to SUPERMAN could just as well be a burst of crucifix-shaped sunlight in contrast to the thrumming, uber-dark approach that Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard gave to what’s arguably the most downbeat, if not utterly grim comic book saga in movie history. And now that Howard has left the bat cave with his more emotionally conventional orchestral touch, Zimmer’s wall of beat-sound is now truly ruling the belfry, taking the musical saga to new depths of intoxicating grimness for  THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Fans of old school superhero scoring might be […]Read On »

First, Warner Bros. released an image of Henry Cavill as Superman in the MAN OF STEEL reboot, and now they’ve done it again with this first look at Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in the Christopher Nolan directed THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Yes, there’s not much going on here (and there’s no way this is the final Cat-suit), but at least it’s a nice taste of what to expect from the third and final chapter in Nolan’s BATMAN trilogy. The X List: Catwoman of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: 5 Things You Need To Know

Well, now we know: The two villains that will square off against Christian Bale’s gravelly-voiced Gotham City crusader in the third Christopher Nolan-helmed Batman film DARK KNIGHT RISES will be Catwoman (purrfect) and Bane (snap!) played by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, respectively. With a fan base not only devoutly dedicated to the many years of continuity in the Bat-comics, but impressed by Nolan’s unique, some might even say pseudo-realistic take on the surreal shenanigans of the cowled one and his extensive rogues’ gallery, how exactly do you handle reintroducing both of these antagonists in a way sure to please […]Read On »
