News: The CW discusses renewing SUPERNATURAL for an eighth season – TCA 2012

With SUPERNATURAL still going strong, the CW Entertainment President Mark Pedowitz spoke today at the 2012 TCA Press Tour about the reasons for bringing it back for an eighth season. “There was no question about it – the guys are great, the show is great and we felt that it deserved another crack,” says Pedowitz who also notes it served as a perfect companion to their new series ARROW. “”We did so well when SMALLVILLE was there [before SUPERNATURAL],” says Pedowitz. “We’re big believers in the show. With NBC’s music competition series THE VOICE adding a Fall cycle in addition to a Spring cycle, the question arises can the show sustain its ratings and not over-saturate itself.
