‘Tis the season for holiday specials and TNT’s LEVERAGE is no different. Mixing in whimsy and festive good will with crime and heists is a mix made in Boston as the Leverage team attempt to stop a mall manager (Dave Foley) from ruining Christmas. The scam: to aid in his gambling debts, he’s hired a bunch of criminal rent-a-Santa’s to plan the biggest holiday swindle of all in “The Ho, Ho, Ho Job.”
Not sure why they gave us this episode as the send-off for FRINGE in 2010. In fact, I’d go as far as to say this fall finale ended in a whimper rather than a bang. Instead of ending it last week with the blowout episode where both Olivias (Anna Torv) swapped sides once again. We were given just a run-of-the-mill mad scientist episode in “Marionette.”
Hot damn, I love Death. SUPERNATURAL has made a living on creating compelling characters that return to the show time and time again to either aid or hinder the Winchester brothers. Crowley (Mark Sheppard) being one of the all-time greats and the main thrust of the season (so far) this year.

On DEXTER (which airs its season finale on Sunday night), Michael C. Hall’s serial killer protagonist has lots of problems. One of these would be Miami police detective Joey Quinn, played by Desmond Harrington. Quinn is the partner and sometimes lover of Dexter’s sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) – and he’s also the one person at the station who thinks there’s something not quite right about the newly-widowed blood spatter expert. For those who take the pace, wit and generally immersive atmosphere of the HARRY POTTER films for granted, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER is the latest example of the fact that making family-friendly fantasy is not as easy as it looks. The third of the films based on C.S. Lewis’ CHRONICLES OF NARNIA follows characters introduced in THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE and its sequel, PRINCE CASPIAN. Siblings Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley), now in their teens, are waiting out WWII at the home of their aunt and uncle; older siblings Peter and Susan are in America with their parents. Edmund and Lucy miss their days of adventure in Narnia and are coping with annoying, resentful younger cousin Eustace (Will Poulter), who can’t understand why they keep nattering on about an imaginary country. Then a painting on the wall comes to life and Edmund, Lucy and Eustace are all transported to a Narnian ocean, where they are rescued by a vessel captained by now-King Caspian (Ben Barnes). Caspian is happy to see his old friends again – he and his crew are off to find what became of seven missing lords. There’s an evil mist, a dark island, temptations and some deus ex machina up ahead.
John Wells is rightly a television legend, having executive-produced and run the writers rooms for E.R., THE WEST WING and CHINA BEACH, all intelligent, articulate dramas that focus on people dealing with life and death issues.

When Los Angeles businessman Larry Newley (Paul Blackthorne, erstwhile star of Syfy’s THE DRESDEN FILES) has his home vandalized by an apparition that twinkles and swooshes, it means Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) have to say goodbye to their separate plans to spend Christmas with their respective families.
From its one-off holiday title sequence to the series-specific jokes about fruitcake (and of course the fruitcake does come to menace the town’s inhabitants), “O Little Town” is a uniquely EUREKA Christmas episode. Some plot elements are a bit too wacky even for EUREKA, which is why we get the framing device of Jack (Colin Ferguson) telling four cynical snowbound kids of a Yuletide when it was unseasonably sweltering in Eureka. The town’s electromagnetic shield has gone haywire, trapping everybody inside. Taggart (Matt Frewer) is visiting town in an actual flying sleigh, determined to find Santa, while at Global Dynamics, an energy project gone amok and Taggart’s gift-shrinking technology are causing the town to get smaller and smaller. On the upside, there’s a Secret Santa running around, giving everyone the perfect present. Who can it be? Maybe … Santa?
