TV Review: SOUTH PARK – Season 15 – “T.M.I.”

Cartman in SOUTH PARK - Season 15 - "T.M.I." | ©2011 Comedy Central

Writer: Trey Parker Director: Trey Parker Network: Comedy Central, airs Wednesday nights Original Telecast: May 18, 2011 Last week I was equally praised and crucified by readers for my scathing review of the SOUTH PARK episode “Royal Pudding”. It was a horrible mess with a funny gags and not much else. Sorry. Thankfully, this week’s episode “T.M.I.” is a much better effort (still not perfect, but good), keeping things simple and bringing the inspired lunacy that makes SOUTH PARK so great. When the South Park faculty decides to post how much each student has grown in size during the year, […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICAN IDOL – Season 10 – “Three Finalists Compete”

AMERICAN IDOL: The Final Three: L-R: Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina | | ©2011 Fox/Michael Becker

Cast: Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler Network: Fox, airs Wednesdays and Thursdays Original Telecast: May 18, 2011 There was a lot of pomp and circumstance on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL, this week. Lots of looking back at the final three and how they got this spot, but one more has to go before the finals during Season 10 of this powerhouse series. So I’m skipping all that filler (since they boosted it to two hours this week) and going right to the heart of the matter – the performances. Beyonce was the guest mentor this week […]Read On »

TV Review: GLEE – Season 2 – “Funeral”

Jane Lynch, Jessalyn Golsig, Kent Avenido in GLEE - Season 2 - "Funeral" | ©2011 Fox/Beth Dubber

Stars: Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz Writer: Ryan Murphy Director:  Bradley Buecker Network: Fox, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: May 18, 2011 Characters should be the backbone of any TV series. They should move a series forward, they should connect with an audience and there should be some consistency in their actions as well. With GLEE in Season 2, it’s proven to be a topsy-turvy ride character-wise with random motivations, left-field personality switches and a heavy reliance on romantic pairings that […]Read On »

DANCING WITH THE STARS Recap: Ralph Macchio is karate kicked off DWTS

Karina Smirnoff and Ralph Macchio are eliminated on the DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 12 - Week 9 - Semifinals | ©2011 ABC/Michael Desmond

Lightening didn’t strike twice on DANCING WITH THE STARS as Ralph Macchio (and his partner Karina Smirnoff) were karate chopped off the show, placing him in fourth place for season 12. Unlike last week when somehow he escaped elimination after coming in last – partially due to a knee injury – this week his luck ran out and Hines Ward, Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane earned their place in the finals next week. The judges basically made their picks last night…Alley, Ward and Kane would go to the finals. Their low scores for Macchio basically told him that last night. […]Read On »

TV Review: THE CHICAGO CODE – Season 1 – “Greylord and Gambat”

Billy Lush in THE CHICAGO CODE - Season 1 - "Greylord and Gambat" | ©2011 Fox/Jeffrey Garland

Stars: Delroy Lindo, Billy Lush, Matt Lauria, Jennifer Beals, Jason Clarke, Devin Kelley and Todd Williams Writer: Virgil Williams Director: Paris Barclay Network: Fox, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: May 16, 2011 As much as the networks are loath (or maybe that’s terrified) to embrace serialized TV series (preferring the more repeatable standalone procedurals), there’s something to be said for shows with ongoing arcs. Case is in point is the recently canceled THE CHICAGO CODE and its penultimate episode “Greylord and Gambat.” Unlike many of the episodes that followed a specific crime which usually had some peripheral tie to our […]Read On »

TV Review: CHUCK – Season 4 – “Vs. The Cliffhanger” – Season Finale

Yvonne Strahovski and Zachary Levi in CHUCK - Season 4 - "Vs. The Cliffhanger" | ©2011 NBC/Mike Ansell

Stars: Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Vic Sahay, Scott Krinsky, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Bonita Friedericy Writer: Chris Fedak & Nicholas Wootton Director: Robert Duncan McNeill Network: NBC, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: May 16, 2011 When CHUCK knows it’s going to be entering another rocky road to renewal (which is every year), it always manages to reinvent itself in the final moments of every season to give NBC enough confidence to give it a reprieve (even if it is with some fan nudging). With “Vs. The Cliffhanger” the show’s co-creator Chris Fedak with […]Read On »

Maksim Chmerkovskiy gives host Tom Bergeron some love on DANCING WITH THE STARS - Week 9 - "Semi-Finals" | ©2011 ABC/Adam Taylor

A DANCING WITH THE STARS miracle will have to happen tomorrow night for Ralph Macchio to escape elimination, yet again! He brought his sexy mojo – pimp style – to the dance floor and the judges rejected him! So, the semi finals are over, the votes are tallying in and soon we will know who will be in the DANCING WITH THE STARS Season 12 finals.  Two dances were done tonight plus a Cha Cha Cha winner takes all, which Chelsea Kane won, grabbing her an additional 15 judges’ points! The season is coming to an end. Unless a huge […]Read On »

Bonita Friedericy in CHUCK - Season 3 | ©NBC

On CHUCK, the Josh Schwartz/Chris Fedak-created NBC series that has its Season Four finale tonight at 8 PM and will be back for Season Five, the title character (Zachary Levi) is an electronics store employee turned super-spy, thanks to a ton of arcane information downloaded into his brain. They all take their orders from General Diane Beckman, played by Bonita Friedericy, the exceedingly stern but often compassionate authority figure who gives them […]Read On »
