Season 2 of SPARTACUS (dubbed SPARTACUS: VENGEANCE) is a half a year away from debuting, but creator and executive producer Steven S. DeKnight says the new season will outdo things that have already been seen in BLOOD & SAND and GODS OF THE ARENA.
Part of this stems from the show getting out of the gladiator arena and sending the slaves on the run.
“It’s exponentially more difficult and gigantic,” says DeKnight while speaking at today’s 2011 TCA session for Starz. “I ship the scripts off to [producer] Robert Tapert and dump a huge problem on his table. I’m always amazed at how he figured out how to do it. It’s epic. It’s gigantic on all levels. Usually on a show like this, every three of four episodes we do something big. This season, it’s every episode, so it’s a gigantic production challenge. Everything just got bigger.”
