Most filmmakers are lucky to have one major franchise to their name in their career, but Wes Craven has managed to have two with A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and the SCREAM movies to his name. Throw in THE HILLS HAVE EYES and LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (which have both been remade from his seminal 1970s films) and the director has proven to be one of horror’s continual masters and a force to be reckoned with.   With SCRE4M (aka SCREAM 4), Craven returns for the fourth go-around to the venerable horror franchise that started in 1996 and has […]Read On »

SCREAM 3 Blu-ray | ©2011 Lionsgate

Rating: R Stars: David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Patrick Dempsey, Scott Foley, Lance Henriksen, Matt Keeslar, Jenny McCarthy, Emily Mortimer, Parker Posey, Deon Richmond, Patrick Warburton Writer: Ehren Kruger Director: Wes Craven Distributor: Lionsgate Suggested Retail Price: $19.99 After two really good films, the SCREAM franchise took a huge nosedive with 2000’s virtually unwatchable SCREAM 3. A very lazy film (when you compare it to the ambitions screenwriter Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven were going for in SCREAM 2), SCREAM 3 is a hodge podge of unfunny comedy, crazy back story and very few actual scares. Williamson is nowhere […]Read On »

During the “Behind the Music with CW3PR: Composing for Sci-Fi Horror and Fantasy” panel during Wondercon 2011 in San Francisco, composer Marco Beltrami was asked about returning to the horror franchise SCRE4M (aka SCREAM 4) and how it was different. “It was great working again with [director] Wes [Craven], he is a lot of fun,” Beltrami says. “It is really a  continuation of the previous SCREAM movies, but the fun thing about this one is since there was another killer, it gave me a chance to play around with the general theme.” Beltrami also says he played around with Sidney’s […]Read On »

Like the original SCREAM, 1997’s SCREAM 2 follows heroine Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who is now at college trying to reclaim her […]Read On »

While promoting her new film SCRE4M, actress Neve Campbell explains that it was like old times doing this horror film reboot – particularly looking back on the three films they did before. “I had fun watching the films again before we started this to get a sense of it,” says Campbell. “They held up well.” And as many horror films throughout the 2000s went through the darker, torture fun phase, Campbell relished the fun she had working on this kind of horror film. “We were having fun during filming,” says Campbell. “You’re not feeling it’s a dark experience. There’s humor […]Read On »
