In its first airing on Syfy Channel, Thursday July 11 at 9 PM, SHARKNADO was generating five thousand Tweets per minute on Twitter. The movie, about a tornado that deposits ravenous sharks all over Los Angeles, was written by Thunder Levin and directed by Anthony C. Ferrante. Ian Ziering stars as Fin, a bar owner determined to rescue his family from the onslaught. Breaking News: Syfy officially announces SHARKNADO 2 and it bites the Big Apple

Yes, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s SHARKNADO 2 and it’s coming to New York to take a bite out of the Big Apple. Last night, Syfy announced via LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON  that a sequel has been greenlit and it will take place in New York this time. The Asylum will be producing the film again and it’s set to air in 2014. Syfy also announced that it is asking the fans to come up with the sequel subtitle via Twitter. SHARKNADO, as its title suggests, is a movie about a massive tornado that sweeps up an enormous quantity of sharks in its wake, then repeatedly dumps water and big toothy fish on an unprepared Los Angeles. The film, produced by Asylum, premieres on Syfy Channel tonight at 9 PM, with a Blu-ray and DVD release on September 3. Director Anthony C. Finally, after a very long wait, a super short SHARKNADO trailer has finally made its debut. Syfy has released their officially commercial spot for the trailer for the epic new disaster/shark film (check it out below) starring Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, John Heard and Cassie Scerbo which will make its debut on the network on Thursday, July 11 (check local listings for times).
