With four hit series on CBS, all of which have won Emmys, Chuck Lorre is the indisputable king of comedy at the network. Yes, TWO AND A HALF MEN, which Lorre executive-produces and created with Lee Aronsohn, is finishing its twelve-year run with a one-hour special on Thursday, February 19. This still leaves the other shows Lorre executive-produces: THE BIG BANG THEORY, created by Lorre and Bill Prady, now in its eighth season, MIKE & MOLLY, now in its fifth season, and MOM, created by Lorre, now in its second season. Jones and how they would like him back on the show for an eleventh season if it’s renewed. “We would like him to be part of that,” says Tassler. “We’d like him to be part of it next year. I think he would like to come back too.  We would like him to. Jones, Conchatta Ferrell, Holland Tayler Writers: Don Reo & Jim Patterson, story by Chuck Lorre & Eddie Gorodetsky Director: James Widdoes Network: CBS Original Telecast: Sept. 27th, 2012 Now I can honestly say that I have given Ashton Kutcher more than a fair shot at salvaging TWO AND A HALF MEN. However, as his second season with the show begins (and the tenth overall), there is still a noticeable void in the show that can never be replaced by any actor. As one of the few who didn’t quite understand how Charlie Sheen […]Read On »

CD Review: NO STRINGS ATTACHED soundtrack

No Strings Attached Score soundtrack | ©2011 Lakeshore Records

For a manly composer, John Debney has frequently been called upon to sound like a honey-haired escort, no doubt due to his talent for effortlessly conjuring the sweet, heavily-stringed romantic vibe that spells “chick flick” score at the box office. Yet Debney’s rapidly been showing the town he’s a jack-of-all-trades, especially with last year’s zanily ferocious scores to PREDATORS and MACHETE. So it’s equally no surprise that Debney can devolve his rom-com sound to the mid-20’s age of NO STRINGS ATTACHED’s likable bed-hoppers, and sound more authentically creative than ever in the genre. The same thing can be said for […]Read On »

Movie Review: NO STRINGS ATTACHED

NO STRINGS ATTACHED movie poster | &copy Paramount Pictures

Sometimes there is no accounting for what turns people on, let alone what people think will turn other people on. Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher are, together and separately, talented and attractive, and there’s nothing really offensive about their romantic comedy NO STRINGS ATTACHED. True, it defies logic and credibility in several major ways and its tone manages to be bland yet inconsistent, but it’s not mean-spirited, which gives it some points.
