When History Channel greenlit the ambitious THE KENNEDYS mini-series, controversy was expected, but nothing like the kind that stirred up when that cable network decided to drop the project entirely earlier this year. After being shopped to various networks, Reelz Channel ultimately acquired the eight-episode mini-series. The premiere reairs tonight on Reelz and the remaining six episodes will shown nightly starting Tuesday. Written by Stephen Kronish, executive produced by former 24 co-creator Joel Surnow and directed by longtime 24 director Jon Cassar, the project follows the life of the Kennedys throughout the 1960s and features Greg Kinnear as John F. TV Review: THE BORGIAS – Season 1 – “The Poisoned Chalice” / “The Assassin” – Series Premiere

THE BORGIAS poster | ©2011 Showtime

Stars: Jeremy Irons, François Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, Colm Feore, David Oakes, Derek Jacobi, Joanne Whalley Writer: Neil Jordan Director: Neil Jordan Network: Showtime, airs Sunday nights Original Telecast: April 3rd, 2010 Just because a series is a period drama doesn’t mean that it’s an instant win with me. I’ve supported a lot of different period shows over the last several years such as, DEADWOOD, ROME, SPARTACUS, and more recently CAMELOT. Now Showtime is bringing us the story of THE BORGIAS, one of the first ‘crime’ families known in history. THE BORGIAS is something akin to THE TUDORS, in the fact […]Read On »

Stars: Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Claire Forlani, James Purefoy Writer: Chris Chibnall Director: Ciaran Donnelly Network: Starz, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: April 1st, 2010 I’m still thoroughly enjoying one of the more original series on TV, with the second episode of CAMELOT entitled “The Sword and the Crown.” This series moves incredibly fast, in fact a lot faster than most period television. I don’t know if it’s due to budget or number of episodes ordered, but this show is MOVING. Arthur (Jamie Campbell Bower) just found out in the pilot that he was the only make […]Read On »

Eric Close, James Murray, Freddy Rodriguez and Tim Blake Nelson in CHAOS - Season 1 | ©2011 CBS/Jason Bell

Stars: Freddy Rodriguez, Eric Close, James Murray, Tim Blake Nelson, Carmen Ejogo, Christina Cole, Kurtwood Smith Writer: Tom Spezialy Director: Brett Ratner Network: CBS, Fridays @ 8 PM Airdate: April 1, 2011 An action comedy series centered around a CIA covert ops team may not sound like the most likely marriage of tone and premise, but creator Tom Spezialy manages it surprisingly well in the opening episode of CHAOS. By taking Dudley-Do-Right aspiring agent Rick Martinez (Freddy Rodriguez) through a trial-by-trickery first few days on the job, we get to like both him and his tormentors on the ODS team, […]Read On »

During the press event for HUMAN TARGET at WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco, Mark Valley, who plays Chance on the Fox show, gave us his opinion on where he would like to see his character go if the series gets picked up for Season 3. “In terms of Chance’s overall arc, in the first episode he was closed down to the world and focused on doing his job and having some confusion about it and coming out of it,” Valley says. “The second season he started to open up a little bit. If there is a Season 3 of V, where does Elizabeth Mitchell see her FBI character of Erica going? Will she be a kick-ass, take no prisoners type of character given that everyone she has loved is now gone? Talking with us at WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco, this is what she had to say. “Yes, I would like her to be a nothing to lose, incredibly strong, incredibly intelligent character,” Mitchell says. “I feel that maybe we can out think them [the aliens\. We are talking about the reptilian brain, which is mostly just instinct. So with a combination […]Read On »

WonderCon 2011: Why BREAKING IN debuting in April a good thing

Christian Slater in BREAKING IN - Season 1 | ©2011 Fox/David Johnson

During the BREAKING IN press event at WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco, executive producer  Doug Robinson thinks that debuting the series in April is actually a positive rather than a negative. “I think it is a huge advantage, especially when you have AMERICAN IDOL as a lead-in,” Robinson says about the series which focuses on a high-tech security firm of misfits. “You know that at least you are going to get a lot of people that aren’t going to watch anything at 9:30 p.m. because the families are done watching TV. I would take seven episodes to watch a show […]Read On »
