TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 6 – “Frontierland”

Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Jim Beaver Writers: Andrew Dabb, Daniel Loflin, Jackson Stewart Director: Guy Norman Bee Network: The CW, Airs Fridays Original Telecast: April 22, 2011 “You know what that is? Authenticity.” – Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) in SUPERNATURAL “Frontierland” I guess it was only a matter of time before we got an Old West version of SUPERNATURAL. Given we have had a monster movie episode, future timeline episodes, going into the ’70s and ’80s episodes and alternate universe episodes, the Old West was fair game. “Frontierland” focuses on Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) […]Read On »

TV Review: SMALLVILLE – Season 10 – “Dominion”

Callum Blue in SMALLVILLE - Season 10 - "Dominion" | ©2011 The CW/Jack Rowand

Starring: Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman Writer: John Chisholm Director: Justin Hartley Network: The CW, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: April 29, 2011 Sadly, SMALLVILLE’s recent winning streak of episodes as it heads to its series finale was disrupted by “Dominion.” What should have been a powerful episode, instead turns out lukewarm treading on territory we’ve seen countless times before in films like 300 and GLADIATOR. The idea is a cool one though as Clark (Tom Welling) and Oliver (Justin Hartley) travel to the Phantom Zone to find out why one of the Zoners had managed to […]Read On »

Thyne, Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, Michael Grant Terry, Iyal Podell Writer: Keith Foglesong Director: Francois Velle Network: Fox, Thursdays @ 9 PM Airdate: April 28, 2011 On BONES, our heroine Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is known for speaking her mind. Indeed, by now, all of her friends expect this of her. However, they don’t always expect it of each other, much less themselves. “The Pinocchio in the Planter” takes a playful, in-character look at just how much honesty is a good thing vs. how much exceeds everyone’s comfort levels. The subject […]Read On »

AMERICAN IDOL recap: (Surprise) Casey Abrams is sent packing (again)

Casey Abrams is eliminated on AMERICAN IDOL - Season 10 - The Final 6 | ©2011 Fox/Michael Becker

Cast: Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson Network: Fox, airs Wednesdays and Thursdays Original Airdate: April 28, 2011 I guess two times is not a charm on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL, because Casey Abrams, who was saved from elimination earlier in the season and thrived for a number of weeks, got the boot on the show in what is probably a surprise. Maybe it wasn’t a fluke the first time he got the lowest amount of votes. Maybe the IDOL voters are more fickle than I give them credit for. I thought he did pretty […]Read On »

TV Review: SOUTH PARK – Season 15 – “HUMANCENTiPAD” – Season Premiere

SOUTH PARK - Season 15 - "HUMANCENTiPAD" | ©2011 Comedy Central

Writer: Trey Parker Director: Trey Parker Network: Comedy Central, airs Wednesday nights Original Telecast: April 27, 2011 It’s impossible to know where SOUTH PARK creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are going to go next. Each half season can go from brilliant to uninspired within a week’s time, but the joy of the show is the surprise and anticipation of what they’re going to skewer and spoof next. With their Season 15 premiere (yes, Season 15), they hijack the premise from the cult horror movie THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE and graft it on to the current technological innovations that Steve Jobs […]Read On »

TV Review: AMERICAN IDOL – Season 10 – “The Top 6 Perform”

AMERICAN IDOL: The Final 6: L-R: Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina, Casey Abrams and Jacob Lusk | ©2011 Fox/Michael Becker

Cast: Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson Network: Fox, airs Wednesdays and Thursdays Original Airdate: April 27, 2011 And then there were six on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL. After losing two men in a row, will the last females remaining continue to win over the hearts of America enough to stick around? We’ll see. And once again we are stuck doing just one performer for the entire night – Carole King. While the pop legend has a great catalog, why pigeonhole them and the audience into hearing all these songs? I got it that you […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: Margo Martindale gets JUSTIFIED in being bad

Margo Martindale in JUSTIFIED - Season 2 - "For Blood or Money" | ©2011 FX/Prashant Gupta

FX’s hit series JUSTIFIED (Wednesdays at 10 PM) is now in its second season and already renewed for a third. In the show developed by Graham Yost from the writings of Elmore Leonard, U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) has come across all sorts of lawbreakers, especially now that he’s returned to his native Kentucky. However, it’s a safe bet he’s never before tangled with anyone quite like Margo Martindale’s Mags Bennett, the folksy, ruthless criminal matriarch who someone described as a cross between Tony Soprano and Paula Deen. Martindale, who hails from Galveston, Texas, has had a lot of […]Read On »

DANCING WITH THE STARS Recap: Pro wrestler Chris Jericho body-slammed out of the competition

Cheryl Burke and Chris Jericho are eliminated on the DANCING WITH THE STARS Week 6 Results Show |©2011 ABC/Adam Taylor

Season 12 of DANCING WITH THE STARS is getting really nit picky! At this point in the show it should be called One False Move because anyone can and will go home if you have one less than spectacular night and not enough of a fan base to pull you through. And that’s just what happened with pro wrestler Chris Jericho who blew it with a weak performance on Monday’s telecast, leaving behind just six stars … Romeo, Kirstie Alley, Ralph Macchio, Chelsea Kane, Kendra Wilkinson and Hines Ward in a dance off race to the end. In a new […]Read On »

The CW renews SUPERNATURAL for a Seventh Season and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES for a third

The CW gave a vote of confidence to many of its series today with an early renewal announcement for two of its major genre series’ SUPERNATURAL and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES getting a third season was a given, considering how powerful and popular that show is on Thursday nights, but it’s SUPERNATURAL getting its seventh season that’s the big announcement. While it’s proven to be a solid performer on Friday, the show’s future past last season when creator Eric Kripke stepped down as showrunner put it in jeopardy. However, with Kripke still peripherally involved, and the show still […]Read On »
