9-1-1, Fox Network’s drama about first responders airing Wednesday nights, has already been renewed for a second season. The series follows a team of police, headed up by Angela Bassett’s Athena Grant (Bassett is also one of 9-1-1’s executive producers), a squad of firefighters led by Peter Krause’s Bobby Nash, and an emergency call center, where we focus on operator Abby Clark, played by Connie Britton. 9-1-1 is created by the prolific trio of Brad Falchuk, Tim Minear and Ryan Murphy. Murphy and Falchuk have together authored numerous series under the banner of Ryan Murphy Television; Minear has previously worked […]Read On »

Although it shares the same name as its 1975 predecessor (and the 2003 feature film), CBS’ Thursday night drama SWAT is largely a new endeavor. While the Special Weapons and Tactics squad is still named Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson and we still hear Barry De Vorzon’s indelible theme music, this SWAT is a much more grounded take on the heavily armed crisis division of the police department. Set in and around South Central Los Angeles, the new SWAT deals extensively not only with police response to violent crime, but also the strained relationship between the department and the often mistrustful community […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: Tim Kring on the DAYBREAK web series

DAYBREAK poster | ©2012 AT&T

DAYBREAK begins with a wild vehicle chase – not too surprising, as it’s directed by 24 veteran Jon Cassar – then flashes back to show us how Ben (Ryan Eggold), living in a mobile home park after turning his back on conventional success, gets entangled in a web that involves his late father, a twelve-sided dodecahedron and a secret society. The far-reaching themes are a hallmark of DAYBREAK’s co-creator/executive producer Tim Kring (TOUCH, HEROES). What is most unusual about DAYBREAK, with its high production values and pedigree on both sides of the camera – besides Eggold (ENTOURAGE, 90210), stars include […]Read On »

Stars: Delroy Lindo, Billy Lush, Matt Lauria, Jennifer Beals, Jason Clarke, Devin Kelley and Todd Williams Writer: Shawn Ryan, Director: Lesli Linka Glatter Network: Fox, airs Monday nights Original Telecast: May 23, 2011 With the news last week that THE CHICAGO CODE was canceled, it didn’t bode well for how the season and now series final “Mike Royko’s Revenge” was going to wrap up. Would it be a cliffhanger or would everything get tied up in a neat little bow? Were the producers prepared for a conclusion in the off-chance it didn’t get renewed? And strangely, it ended, exactly how […]Read On »
