Actress Yvonne Strahovski is attending Fox’s party for the Television Critics Association press tour because she’s a member of the summer event series 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY, which sees her as a CIA agent who squares off against Kiefer Sutherland’s super-survivor Jack Bauer.
Strahovski’s fans know that she has already spent five years as CIA agent Sarah Walker on CHUCK, who fell in love with the title character, played by Zachary Levi, but then lost her memory of their relationship and their marriage. The final scene saw Chuck kissing Sarah in the hopes of awakening her memory, but we don’t know if it works.
Then Strahovski was on hand for the last two seasons of DEXTER as repeat murderer Hannah McKay whose plans to run away with Michael C. Hall’s serial killer character were undermined when Dexter decided the best thing for Hannah, and for his young son, was to have both of them believe him to be dead.
We took the opportunity to ask Strahovski’s opinion on the finales of both series.
YVONNE STRAHOVSKI: You know, I think there was a lot of controversy surrounding DEXTER and CHUCK. I still had people asking me today whether Sarah gets her memory back in CHUCK and I think she does eventually. But as for DEXTER – look, in watching it as an audience member, trying to remove myself from the whole thing, it was an upsetting ending. It was depressing to watch, because the content was so depressing, and I think that was the point, that we saw this serial killer get away with it his whole life, and in the end, if he wasn’t going to die and he wasn’t going to get captured, he should be left with nothing. And he was. I think that was the whole point. And it was depressing to see that. So that’s my take on it.
AX: Do you have any other projects going on we should know about?
STRAHOVSKI: Well, I’m promoting I, FRANKENSTEIN, the movie, which is releasing on the twenty-fourth of this month [January], so I’m heading to New York to promote that, and then I get straight into London [to shoot] 24. So it’s busy, busy.
