Wyman Directors: Jeannot Szwarc, Miguel Sapochnik Network: Fox, airs Friday nights Original Telecast: October 28, 2012 I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, FRINGE is one of the most ambitious and ground-breaking science-fiction series ever. It never rests on its laurels and it’s always quick to change its tone, focus and concept season by season in an attempt to tell challenging and complex stories even die-hard fans would never expect. After Season 4, FRINGE was on the bubble and almost didn’t return […]Read On »

The thing that’s fascinating about the series though, is that it’s more than aware of the mistakes and troubles it faces […]Read On »

TV Review: THE NEW NORMAL – Season 1 – “Obama Mama”

Georgia King and Bebe Wood in THE NEW NORMAL - Season 1 - "Obama Mama" | ©2012 NBC/Justin Lubin

Stars: Justin Bartha, Andrew Rannells, Georgia King, Bebe Wood, NeNe Leakes, Ellen Barkin Writer: Allison Adler  Director: Scott Ellis      Network: NBC, airs Tuesday nights Original Telecast: September 25, 2012 It’s interesting to me that the first episode of THE NEW NORMAL, “Obama Mama”, that Ryan Murphy didn’t write and direct is the first episode to really move away from the God awful stereotypes that have been plaguing this show since the pilot. I like the show, but it’s been a big bone of contention for me that every single episode is chock full of cliché stereotypes all across the board, […]Read On »

TV Review: BONES – Season 8 – “The Partners in the Divorce”

Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz and Omar J. Dorsey in BONES - Season 8 - "The Partners in the Divorce" | ©2012 Fox/Patrick McElhenney

Stars: David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Michaela Conlin, TJ Thyne, Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, Luke Kleintank, Sophina Brown, Tom Gallop, Alexandra Holden, Omar J. Dorsey Writer: Michael Peterson, series created by Hart Hanson, based on the life and writings of Kathy Reichs Director: Allison Liddi Brown Network: Fox, Mondays @ 8 PM Airdate: September 24, 2012 After their three-month-long separation, during which neither was sure they’d ever see the other again, it makes sense that BONES protagonists Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) have some issues they need to work through with one another. Theoretically, this should be a […]Read On »

TV Review: TWO AND A HALF MEN – Season 10 – “I Changed My Mind About the Milk” – Season Premiere

Michael Bolton, Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer in TWO AND A HALF MEN - Season 10 - "I Changed My Mind About The Milk" | ©2012 CBS/Monty Brinton

Stars: Jon Cryer, Ashton Kutcher, Angus T. Jones, Conchatta Ferrell, Holland Tayler Writers: Don Reo & Jim Patterson, story by Chuck Lorre & Eddie Gorodetsky Director: James Widdoes Network: CBS Original Telecast: Sept. 27th, 2012 Now I can honestly say that I have given Ashton Kutcher more than a fair shot at salvaging TWO AND A HALF MEN. However, as his second season with the show begins (and the tenth overall), there is still a noticeable void in the show that can never be replaced by any actor. As one of the few who didn’t quite understand how Charlie Sheen […]Read On »

TV Review: REVOLUTION – Season 1 – “Chained Heat”

Tracy Spiridakos in REVOLUTION - Season 1 - "Chained Heat" | ©2012 NBC/John Domoney

Cast: Billy Burke, Tracy Spirdakos, Giancarlo Esposito, Zak Orth, David Lyons, Tim Guinee Writer: Eric Kripke Director: Charles Beeson Network: NBC, airs Mondays @ 10 p.m. Original Telecast: Sept. 24, 2012 Well things have certainly come to a grinding halt on REVOLUTION after a very impressive “Pilot” episode where it was wall to wall action and a whole handful of good ideas. “Chained Heat” isn’t nearly as good as the opening episode which seems to sometimes be the case with big opening episodes that are targeted to grab the viewers’ attention and then subsequently falter to deliver in the following […]Read On »

TV Review: THE NEIGHBORS – Season 1 – “Pilot” – Series Premiere

Ian Patrick, Tim Jo, Simon Templeman, Toks Olagundoye, Isabella Cramp, Jami Gertz, Lenny Venito, Clara Mamet, Max Charles in THE NEIGHBORS - Season 1 | ©2012 ABC/Bob D'Amico

Stars: Jami Gertz, Lenny Venito, Simon Templeman, Toks Olagundoye, Clara Mamet, Tim Jo, Ian Patrick, Max Charles, Isabella Cramp Writer: Dan Fogelman Director: Chris Koch Network: ABC, airs Wednesday nights Original Telecast: September 26, 2012 You can’t fault ABC for at least trying something new. Last year, they trotted out their cross-dressing comedy WORK IT (epic fail) and this year they’ve got THE NEIGHBORS, a terribly dated suburban alien comedy that falls completely flat. Ten years ago, a bunch of aliens from the planet Zabvron arrived in a gated New Jersey neighborhood to see if Earth could be inhabitable by […]Read On »

TV Review: SOUTH PARK – Season 16 – “Sarcastaball” – Premiere

Kenny, Butters, Kyle, Stan and Cartman in SOUTH PARK - Season 16 - "Sarcastaball" | ©2012 Comedy Central

Writer: Trey Parker Director: Trey Parker Network: Comedy Central, airs Wednesday nights Original Telecast: September 26, 2012 SOUTH PARK is back for the second half of Season 16, but sadly “Sarcastaball” is one of the weakest episodes of the season by far. Taking on the current topical subject of the NFL and the replacement referees that have been destroying the game, SOUTH PARK touches on things that have been mined to far better effect in other episodes and other seasons. When Randy finds out South Park Elementary is making school football “too safe”, he gets all sarcastic and starts suggesting […]Read On »
