Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in THE AVENGERS | (c) 2012 Fox/Marvel

If you want audiences to know immediately that a character is to be respected, can handle just about anything, will put up with no b.s. and is absolutely cool without having to explain all of the above, your best bet is to just cast Samuel L. Jackson. This isn’t to say that the Washington, D.C.-born actor can’t play tender, confused, vulnerable or pretty much anything else –Jackson has proven his extraordinary versatility many times over on film and on stage – but he’s become big-budget movie shorthand for badass authority. No wonder then that when S.H.I.E.L.D. Initiative Director Nick Fury […]Read On »

At the risk of printing a big spoiler, Mark Ruffalo would like to make known what his most memorable moment was during the filming of THE AVENGERS. In playing Dr. Bruce Banner, who when angry turns into the formidable huge green Hulk, it would seem that Ruffalo has plenty of moments to choose from. At a press conference to promote the film, Ruffalo’s cohorts Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark/Iron Man, and Chris Hemsworth, who portrays Thor, both cite the scene when all the superheroes are together for the first time. Ruffalo, however, has a different moment. “Mine was […]Read On »

THE AVENGERS isn’t Chris Evans first time out as Steve Rogers, aka, Captain America – he donned the red, white and blue outfit for the 2011 CAPTAIN AMERICA movie, set during WWII. For that matter, Cap isn’t even Evans’ first Marvel superhero character – he previously played Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in 2005’s FANTASTIC FOUR and its 2007 sequel, FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER. However, a few elements set Steve Rogers/Cap apart from other characters Evans has portrayed. For one thing, Rogers got frozen in the Forties and woke up in the present.
