Long before fairy tale movies were in vogue, Danny Elfman was applying equal parts enchantment and foreboding to such fractured Tim Burton fantasies as EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and BIG FISH. So it’s no surprise that a filmmaker prone to dark, deceptively kid-friendly adventures would start the recent trend off with ALICE IN WONDERLAND, even if it was a film that pretty much went down the rabbit hole. However, Elfman’s strikingly themed score stayed above the helter-skelter effects fray with its clever plays on English propriety. Now, Elfman’s music truly gets to fly in the genre for Sam […]Read On »

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL continues to rule the boxoffice as easily as Oz (James Franco) himself rules in the Emerald City. Before the film opened the very talented actresses that play the three witches of the movie spoke of their witchy roles. Michelle Williams plays Glinda the Good Witch, Rachel Weisz is Evanora Witch of the East, and Milla Kunis is Theodroa Witch of the West. All three of the actresses had a good time making the movie, and not a single one of them didn’t enjoy being in wires and flying about the sets. “I think we all […]Read On »

Comic-Con News: Michelle Williams says she would consider a DAWSON’S CREEK reunion movie

DAWSON'S CREEK - THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON

While promoting her new film OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, Michelle Williams was asked by the press whether she would consider doing a DAWSON’S CREEK reunion movie where she played Jen Lindley from 1998 to 2003. Her response is quite surprising. “I would,” she admits. “I’d very happily do a reunion show, but I don’t know what it would be since my character died in the end. There are certain limitations – either I come back as a ghost or you film me through a gauzy lens in flashbacks as my 19-year old self. I would love to. Independently, we’ve […]Read On »

Even though the current poster for OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL looks very much like THE WIZARD OF OZ, director Sam Raimi says it shares the DNA of the L. Frank Baum books, but this is a prequel not a remake or sequel to that beloved 1939 film “We all loved THE WIZARD OF OZ and we were careful not to tread on it and careful to respect it,” admits Raimi. “Ours is a different story that leads up to THE WIZARD OF OZ. It’s how the Wizard came from Kansas to the land of Oz. It’s about a selfish […]Read On »
