Movie Review: MORGAN

MORGAN | © 2016 Twentieth Century Fox

Rating: R Stars: Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rose Leslie, Michael Yare, Toby Jones, Chris Sullivan, Boyd Holbrook, Vinette Robinson, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Paul Giamatti, Brian Cox Writer: Seth W. Owen Director: Luke Scott Distributor: Twentieth Century Fox Release Date: September 2, 2016 MORGAN is a science-fiction/horror story that plays hardball with our sympathies. Even as we’re shown the danger posed by Morgan (Anya Taylor-Joy) in the opening moments, we instinctively side with her and those who want to protect her. This instinct is challenged throughout, as – this isn’t giving much away – the first scene won’t be […]Read On »

THE TOUCH soundtrack | ©2013 Buysoundtrax Records

Once the composer of full-blooded orchestral epics like RED DAWN, STARSHIP TROOPERS and LONESOME DOVE, Basil Poledouris would be among a number of similarly talented, and unabashedly melodic orchestra-heavy composers whose careers went south for no other good reason other than the vagaries of Hollywood demand. It took a Chinese co-production to give Poledouris his last major work with this Michelle Yeoh martial arts adventure. But with this 20 million dollar, 2002 movie still unreleased on video in the United States (at least until the advent of YouTube), and its score album only available on a hard-to-find and exorbitantly priced […]Read On »

Rating: PG Stars: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Gary Oldman, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, Dustin Hoffman, Michelle Yeoh Writer: Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger Director: Jennifer Yuh Distributor: Dreamworks Animation Release Date: May 26, 2011 In a summer filled with lots of sequels, it’s not that easy to pick and choose which ones will be hits and which will be misses. KUNG FU PANDA 2 is one of the hits in my book. This animated sequel from Dreamworks picks up pretty much where the last movie left off. Po (Jack Black) is the Dragon Warrior and he fights for […]Read On »
