It’s a tough TV business, and every year fan favorite shows get the boot in favor of new shows that sometimes don’t live up to the potential of the departing series. This year, Fox canceled many fan favorites including the three season LIE TO ME, the two season HUMAN TARGET and THE CHICAGO CODE and the comedies TRAFFIC LIGHT and BREAKING IN. While speaking to the press today about their Fall 2011 and Mid-season 2012 schedules, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly spoke about major casualties this year at the network and why they had to make these hard decisions. “I […]Read On »

I’ve got a lot of snark that I need to unload on you people, so let’s just get right to it, shall we? • Oprah has confirmed that Will Smith and Jada Pickett Smith will be guests on her final show on May 25. I assume the final show also includes a time machine that takes everyone back to 1997 when this would have been awesome. • Bristol Palin stepped out last week with a whole new face. However, she is claiming she didn’t have plastic surgery. She had “corrective jaw surgery.” And just in time for her new reality show. […]Read On »

TV Review: LIE TO ME – Season 3 – “Killer App” – Season Finale

Yes, this is the season finale of LIE TO ME, and I know the rumor mill has this being LIE TO ME’s series finale (and trust me, it is). So with that knowledge, it’s pretty insulting that the best they could do is shamelessly ride the coattails of THE SOCIAL NETWORK by giving us “Killer App.”

Although LIE TO ME, which stars Tim Roth, has been a solid performer by Fox, it’s fate is still on the bubble according to Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly. “I like to believe there’s more upside to LIE TO ME,” he said while speaking at today’s Fox Winter TCA tour in Pasadena, CA. “It’s delivered a very loyal audience. When we stumbled with LONE STAR, it came in cold [into the Monday night timeslot].” The big problem, according to Reilly, is the wealth of good material on the network and the lack of time slots moving into the fall. “We […]Read On »

One of the most exciting bits of news coming out of the Winter TCA Press tour today – Robert Knepper’s T-Bag character from PRISON BREAK will appear on A&E’s new series BREAKOUT KINGS from the producers and creator of PRISON BREAK. How cool is that? The new series features a crack team of U.S. Marshals using expert “breakout” criminals to help them capture other prisoners on the run. That’s where T-Bag figures in. “The character T-Bag breaks out of Fox River prison and our guys chase him,” confirms executive producer Nick Santora, but says don’t expect to see a PRISON […]Read On »

It’s been a very chaotic week for Fox’s Monday night line-up. First, the network canceled their ambitious and critically acclaimed soap opera LONE STAR from the schedule after two episodes. Next, they called up their excellent procedural LIE TO ME to pinch hit in its old Monday at 9:00 p.m. time slot (which it occupied all summer), resulting in a mad scramble to get the word out of this change. And finally, your brand new pop cultural destination ASSIGNMENT X nabbed our first big scoop – LIE TO ME star Tim Roth wanted to speak with us about the show […]Read On »
