It’s rare for a series to be created by one network and then set up at another, but that’s what happened with the new comedy series THE MINDY PROJECT from THE OFFICE actor-writer-producer Mindy Kaling. The series almost made the cut on the Peacock Network schedule, but when it was passed on, it was instantly set up at Fox for a fall birth. At NBCUniversal’s Summer 2012 Press Tour, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke addressed the network shift for the series. “We developed THE MINDY PROJECT and loved it at the network,” Salke reveals. “We felt like, knock on wood, […]Read On »

After spending eight seasons on THE OFFICE as a writer, producer and performer, Mindy Kaling is now headlining a new Fox comedy that she created and stars in called THE MINDY PROJECT. In the series, she plays an OB/GYN who discovers that love is not the way it’s portrayed in romantic movies. In many ways, she feels her character on the show is very similar to Michael Scott (Steve Carell) from THE OFFICE. The fun thing about this character, not unlike Michael Scott in some ways, is she wants to be a better person,” says Kaling, while talking about the […]Read On »

However, the fate of Kelly will actually have some closure, as the actress explained while at Fox’s Summer TCA session for her new series. “I’m heading back [to THE OFFICE] and I think I will be in premiere, which I’m excited about, and maybe another episode,” reveals Kaling. “That was great. Interview: TED star Mila Kunis chats about her new comedy with Seth MacFarlane

Having an annoying roommate is one thing. Having that roommate that’s also your childhood teddy bear is a whole other thing — especially when it’s a living, breathing thing that likes the ladies and enjoys drugs. That’s the set-up for the new Seth MacFarlane comedy TED which features Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett who made a wish as a kid that has haunted him as an adult and Mila Kumis as Lori Collins, his somewhat understanding girlfriend. Doing TED was a no brainer for Kunis, since she currently voices the role of Meg Griffin on the Seth MacFarlane created FAMILY […]Read On »

TV Review: PARKS AND RECREATION – Season 4 – “Win, Lose, Or Draw” – Season Finale

Stars: Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe Network: NBC, airs Thursday nights Original Telecast: May 11, 2011 As NBC mulls the fate of PARKS AND RECREATION (it would seem an impossibility that they wouldn’t bring it back, even for a truncated season), the fourth season finale “Win, Lose Or Draw” proves why the show shouldn’t be on the bubble, and deserves a few more seasons of its well-oiled comedy. Like THE OFFICE, PARKS AND RECREATION derives its humor from the mockmentary approach. There’s a little more fluidity with the PARKS […]Read On »

Movie Review: THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT

FIVE YEAR ENGAGMENT | © 2012 Universal Pictures

Rating: R Stars: Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Chris Pratt, Alison Brie Writer: Jason Segel & Nicholas Stoller Director: Nicholas Stoller  Distributor: Universal Studios Release Date: April 27, 2012 THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT is pretty much what you would (or have come to expect) from this particular niche of comedy. It’s almost like an R rated SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE…which is not really a comparison, but more of an origin for this type of romantic comedy. Certainly BRIDESMAIDS was a big part of the founding of this new off brand of adult comedy that pokes fun at being married, or getting married, […]Read On »

TV Review: BENT – Season 1 – “Pilot” – Series Premiere

BENT - Season 1 poster art | ©2012 NBC

Stars: Amanda Peet, David Walton, Margo Harshman, Joey King, Jeffrey Tambor  Writer:  Tad Quill Director: Craig Zisk Network: NBC, airs Wednesday nights Original Telecast: March 22, 2012 As much trouble as NBC has been in this season with ratings, the quality of its programs have actually been quite interesting – even when they do seriously fail in nabbing viewers. And while we’ve had to suffer through the abysmal WHITNEY and ARE YOU THERE CHELSEA?, they also hit a double with UP ALL NIGHT and I would even say a triple with the surprisingly well done quirky comedy BENT. If you […]Read On »
