Interview: Robert Downey Jr. assembles for THE AVENGERS

Of all the actors in THE AVENGERS, Robert Downey, Jr. has the most experience with his character Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Downey previously played the billionaire genius inventor smartass in IRON MAN and IRON MAN 2, plus an uncredited cameo at the end of THE HULK. However, this is his first time sharing the screen with Chris Evans’ Captain America, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and even Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk (Edward Norton had the role when Tony Stark last visited him). There may or may not be one more scene added to THE AVENGERS before its release. At a press conference on Thursday, AVENGERS star Robert Downey, Jr. announced, “We are shooting one more scene tonight. Not kidding.” At a second press conference immediately following this, AVENGERS writer/director Joss Whedon was asked about this. His response: “It’s Robert. Of course he’s kidding.” Who’s the real kidder here? Tell us what you think! Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures held the World Premiere of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER at the El Capitan Theater on July 19th. The carpet was red and white, and at the end of the carpet before the stars of the film and guests walked into the theater was the CAPTAIN AMERICA shield. The premiere was sponsored by Harley-Davidson, and where I was they had a white Harley that the stars autographed when they walked on the carpet.  In the film, CAPTAIN AMERICA rides a Harley-Davidson WLA motorcycle.  Also sponsoring was Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’ Donuts.
