Stars: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Ty Olsson, Liane Balaban, Athena Karkaris, Patrick Stafford Writer: Ben Edlund, series created by Eric Kripke Director: Guy Bee Network: The CW, Wednesdays @ 9 PM Original Airdate: October 31, 2012 Given Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) history of a take-no-prisoners attitude toward creatures – he still doesn’t get why absent Prophet of the Lord Kevin is upset that Dean tried to kill Kevin’s mom while she was possessed – there’s a lot of potential in exploring the older Winchester brother’s friendship with a vampire. In fact, the SUPERNATURAL episode “Blood Brother” starts out promisingly […]Read On »

TV Review: SUPERNATURAL – Season 7 – “Repo Man”

Mark Pellegrino in SUPERNATURAL - Season 7 - "Repo Man" | ©2012 The CW/Jack Rowand

Stars: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Mark Pellegrino, Russell Sams, Nicole Oliver Writer: Ben Edlund, series created by Eric Kripke Director: Thomas J. Wright Network: The CW, Fridays @ 9 PM Original Airdate: February 17, 2012 The standalone plot of SUPERNATURAL’s “Repo Man,” scripted by Ben Edlund, dovetails nicely into the arced storyline, featuring Sam (Jared Padalecki) being continuously bedeviled by his visions of Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino). The thematic resonance between the two works well, and having a recurring smartass along for the ride, especially one as insinuatingly menacing as Pellegrino’s Devil in Chief, works even better. Four years ago in […]Read On »

Stars: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Misha Collins, Mark Pellegrino, Kim Rhodes, Cameron Bancroft, Benito Martinez Writer: Ben Edlund, series created by Eric Kripke Director: Guy Bee Network: The CW Original Telecast: September 30, 2011 The SUPERNATURAL episode “Hello, Cruel World” has a lot to recommend it. For starters, the script by Ben Edlund makes diabolically clever use of recycling Dr. Sexy (remember that character?) as a way of providing a hilarious/horrific misinterpreted mission statement to a monster, and by bringing back grumpy but plucky ally Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes), not to mention Mark Pellegrino’s oh-so-relaxed Lucifer.
