After a very rough patch of episodes, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE pulled out all the stops for its Christmas episode hosted by Martin Short with musical guest Paul McCartney. Following on the heels of the tragedy in the Sandy Hook elementary shooting, SNL made the cold opening a very classy and understated moment – they had the New York Children’s Choir sing “Silent Night”. With the next THE AVENGERS movie awhile off, Marvel Studios is dusting off another superhero team movie for one of their next films. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY features the characters Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon and Phyla Vell who routinely battle Thanos (who made an appearance at the end of THE AVENGERS). At Comic-Con, Marvel not only announced a release date, but also provided a logo and the first bit of conceptual art. Sounds very, very different and potentially very, very cool.
