All kinds of things happen at the Television Critics Association semi-annual press tour. However, RESCUE ME’s Peter Tolan, who co-created and executive produces the series with its star Denis Leary, did something on the panel for the show’s final season that even the oldest TCA hands said had never occurred before. RESCUE ME, for its seven seasons on FX, has dealt with the aftermath of 9/11 and its effect on the surviving firefighters of a NYFD unit, particularly Leary’s character Tommy Gavin. At the panel, Tolan hints at what may or may not happen in the RESCUE ME series finale, […]Read On »

Voices: Vincent Martella, Ashley Tisdale, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Dan Povenmire, Jeff “Swampy” Marsh Distributor: Walt Disney Home Entertainment Suggested Retail Price: $26.99 One of the hardest things to create is an animated kid’s show that not only appeals to adults but children. And while the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon have had their fare of moderate successes, only Nickelodeon has had long-player SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS that transcended from mere phenomenon to a legitimate hit that’s still going strong 12 years later. Still, Disney Channel keeps trying and they finally cracked the formula with the four-year old animated series PHINEAS AND FERB about two […]Read On »

The finals for AMERICA’S GOT TALENT  have begun! Ten acts performed on AGT tonight hoping to fill the four slots that will move on to the season finale next week. Those four will have a chance at one million dollars and a head lining show in Las Vegas. That winner will be announced next week on Wednesday September 14th. First, which four will get their shot at the ultimate award? Shockingly, Piers Morgan could not contain himself from slapping down on the red buzzer even in the finals! His expectations are high for the finals and he wont let anyone […]Read On »

Like the pilot episode, this series is tonally all over the map. One minute there’s bathroom humor, the next physical comedy and then, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, there’s a moment […]Read On »

For eight seasons, Adrian Grenier has starred as Vince Chase on HBO’s half-hour ENTOURAGE, about the adventures in Hollywood of not only young actor Chase, but the hometown posse that’s followed him to Tinseltown. ENTOURAGE has its series finale next Sunday, September 11 at 10 PM, but it’s hardly the end of the road for Grenier on either side of the camera. The New Mexico-born Grenier is best known for his performance work, but he’s also produced the documentary TV series ALTER ECO and produced and directed last year’s acclaimed documentary film TEENAGE PAPARAZZO. ASSIGNMENT X: You’re very concerned with […]Read On »

Elijah Wood and Jason Gann in WILFRED - Season 1 - "Sacrifice" | ©2011 FX/Ray Mickshaw

Stars: Elijah Wood, Jason Gann, Fiona Gubelmann, Dorian Brown, Chris Klein, Gabriella Pession Writers: Sivert Glarum & Michael Jamin, series created by Jason Gann & Adam Zwar, adapted for American television by David Zuckerman Director: Randall Einhorn Network: FX, Thursdays @ 10 PM Airdate: September 1, 2011 In WILFRED, a lot of things are in flux a lot of the time, including everyone’s motives and emotions. That’s probably to be expected when the show is about a young man who sees his neighbor’s dog as an Australian fellow in a dog suit. It’s easy to accept that Wilfred (Jason Gann), […]Read On »

Landau Eugene Murphy, J. and Anna Graceman move on in AMERICA'S GOT TALENT - Season 6 - Semi-Finals - Round 2 Results Show | ©2011 NBC/Lewis Jacobs

That’s it! No more tryouts. No more wild cards. No more You Tube acts. And no more dragging it out NBC, AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’s final ten have been picked and will compete against each other starting next week. Yes, there were many great acts to choose from and yes, it was a very difficult choice to make, but I managed to pick all five last night that made the cut. Why? Well, it really is simple to figure – which acts have lasting power and which have or ultimately will run out of steam? First easily making the cut was […]Read On »

Exclusive Interview: It’s a dog’s life for WILFRED star Jason Gann

Jason Gann in WILFRED | ©2011 FX/Frank Ockenfels

To employ a cliché, Jason Gann is a lot better-looking in person than he is on television. To be fair, this may have something to do that when he’s on television, he’s playing the title character in FX’s Thursday 10 PM comedy WILFRED, so he’s dressed in a fuzzy black-and-white dog suit with floppy ears and a painted-on black nose. This is because Wilfred is a dog, although to his owner’s neighbor, Wilfred looks and talks like an Australian bloke in a dog suit. Not that this is one of Hollywood’s more time-consuming transformations, Gann notes with a laugh. “It’s […]Read On »

TV Review and Recap: AMERICA’S GOT TALENT – Season 6 – “Semi-Finals – Round 2”

Anna Graceman in AMERICA'S GOT TALENT - Season 6 - Semi-Finals - Round 2 | ©2011 NBC/Lewis Jacobs

Round Two of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’s semi-finals is complete! Twelve acts performed on AGT tonight hoping to join the five acts who have already made it to the finals. Five more will go through tomorrow night and the final ten will compete in the finals. Piers Morgan, as always, didn’t hesitate to use his buzzer at the slightest moment of discouragement. Morgan buzzed Gymkana, Summerwind Skippers and Steven Retchless. Two out of the three made mistakes in their acts and let’s face it, in the semi-finals that’s unforgivable. Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel, who always seems dismayed at Morgan’s quick […]Read On »
