While Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy continue to dominate the dance floor, Bonner Bolton & Sharna Burgess seemed done with the competition and ready to go home. So, that’s just where they went after dancing two dances tonight: a regular duo dance and then a trio dance. Fan favorite Chicago Cubber David Ross & Lindsey Arnold made it through to the semi finals, […]Read On »

Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev in DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 24 | ©2017 ABC/Craig Sjodin

DANCING WITH THE STARS: Movie Night had lots of flips and turns along with a double elimination to cap off the night, but not before a dance off between the six lower scoring couples. Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy scored a perfect score for their Argentine Tango which gave them immunity from the dance off. In the end bachelor Nick Viall & Peta Murgatroyd and Nancy Kerrigan & Artem Chigvintsev were voted off the show. Five couples remain, stay tuned. Nancy Kerrigan (Ice skating Olympian) and her partner Artem Chigvintsev Really enjoying herself. Carrie Ann Inaba told her to watch […]Read On »

Composer Paul Haslinger gives a furious groove to RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER – Interview

RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER soundtrack | ©2017 Milan Records

When synth retro is all the rage in today’s scoring scene with the likes of STRANGER THINGS and IT FOLLOWS, Paul Haslinger can count himself as one of the O.G. genre gangsters whose exciting music for creatures, gunplay and kick-ass heroes has never stopped mutating. An Austrian bandmate in the seminal progressive synth-rock group Tangerine Dream during such seminal soundtrack likes as NEAR DARK and MIRACLE MILE, Haslinger immigrated to Hollywood with a prolifically successful scoring career. He’d venture from the cool, teen-centric electronic grooves of such scores as CHEATERS, CRAZY / BEAUTIFUL and BLUE CRUSH to a career-making partnership with the vampiric Lycan slayer Selene on […]Read On »

Benjamin Wallfisch scores A CURE FOR WELLNESS – Interview

A CURE FOR WELLNESS soundtrack | ©2017 Milan Records

Madness and the curse of centuries-old grotesqueries have rarely been as elegantly conveyed as A CURE FOR WELLNESS, an auspicious entry into the time-honored genre of the sane man trapped in an insane asylum – or in this case a Swiss Alps spa seemingly dedicated to the spiritual, and physical health of its decrepit well-healed clientele. Much like a funeral director with obsessive detail to make an unholy mess spic and span, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and RING director Gore Verbinski has ensured that his institute resounds with old world, aristocratic class, all the better to hide the demonic suffering its delightfully […]Read On »

TV Review: DANCING WITH THE STARS – Season 24 – Week 6 – Boy Band and Girl Group Night – Heather Morris eliminated

Heather Morris in DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 24 | ©2017 ABC/Craig Sjodin

Stars: Heather Morris, Nancy Kerrigan, Bonner Bolton, David Ross, Simone Biles, Normani Kordei, Rashad Jennings, Nick Viall Network: ABC, airs Monday Original Telecast: April 24th, 2017 There is no other way to describe it than…stunning. Tonight on DANCING WITH THE STARS it was the most shocking elimination since Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas got voted out around the same time of the competition many, many, many years ago. And what makes it even more incredible is that Heather Morris & Maks Chmerkovskiy scored a perfect score, the first of this DWTS season, tonight doing a beautiful Rumba. Sometimes it hurts, […]Read On »

Movie Review: UNFORGETTABLE

UNFORGETTABLE movie poster | ©2017 Warner Bros.

Rating: R Stars: Rosario Dawson, Katherine Heigl, Geoff Stults, Isabella Kai Rice, Cheryl Ladd, Sarah Burns, Whitney Cummings, Simon Kassianides, Robert Ray Wisdom Writer: Christina Hodson Director: Denise Di Novi Distributor: Warner Bros. Release Date: April 21, 2017 There are a few ripped-from-the-headlines aspects to UNFORGETTABLE, but to be specific would perhaps be too spoilery. Suffice to say that certain types of cyber-revenge make Christina Hodson’s screenplay plausible in its broad strokes. With different treatment, the subject matter could have been stomach-churning horror. However, under Denise Di Novi’s direction (the veteran producer’s feature directorial debut), UNFORGETTABLE is one of those […]Read On »

TV Review: DANCING WITH THE STARS – Season 24 – Week 5 – Disney Night – No fairy tale ending for Erika Jayne

Erika Jayne in DANCING WITH THE STARS - Season 24 | ©2017 ABC/Craig Sjodin

Stars: Heather Morris, Nancy Kerrigan, Bonner Bolton, Erika Jayne, David Ross, Simone Biles, Normani Kordei, Rashad Jennings, Nick Viall Network: ABC, airs Monday Original Telecast: April 17th, 2017 It’s Disney night on DANCING WITH THE STARS! Mickey, Minnie, Donald and, making her first appearance on DWTS, Daisy all joined in on the fun while ABC self promoted all its upcoming features for the next couple of years. Okay, it was fun to watch too, but blatant, oh definitely. Top of the leader board this week was an almost perfect Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy who fell from the leader board […]Read On »

Movie Review: THE LOST CITY OF Z

THE LOST CIITY OF Z movie poster | ©2017 Amazon Studios/Bleecker Street

Rating: PG-13 Stars: Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller, Tom Holland, Angus McFadyen Writer: James Gray, based on the book by David Grann Director: James Gray Distributor: Amazon Studios/Bleecker Street Release Date: April 14, 2017 THE LOST CITY OF Z covers two decades in the early twentieth century. The movie feels a bit like it was made in the middle-late twentieth century, the ‘60s through the ‘80s, when there were more stories like this one, concerning men finding themselves by leaving civilization behind. The irony in THE LOST CITY OF Z is that Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) was actually in […]Read On »
