DreamWorks Animation held the Los Angeles Premiere of PUSS IN BOOTS on October 23rd at the Regency Theater in Westwood. Closing the street where the theater is located, the “beige” carpet, had backdrops that looked like sets from the film. Costumed PUSS IN BOOTS and Kitty Softpaws walked the carpet, plus before the premiere started Spanish dancers came down the carpet. Fans lined the street to see the stars and guests that attended this early Sunday morning premiere. FilmDistrict held the World Premiere of THE RUM DIARY, October 13th at LACMA in Los Angeles. This was part of Film Independent at LACMA. THE RUM DIARY is based on the debut novel of Hunter S. Thompson and tells the story of itinerant journalist Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp). Fed up with the noise and madness of New York he travels to the pristine island of Puerto Rico to write for a local newspaper, The San Juan Star. Image Entertainment, in conjunction with co-sponsor FEARnet held the World Premiere of CHILLERAMA recently at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood. Fans and stars sat on blankets on the Douglas Fairbanks lawn to watch the movie on the walls of the Mausoleum. THE THING is a prequel to a remake of an adaptation of the novella “Who Goes There?” by John W. Campbell Jr., published in 1938 and the 1982 film starring Kurt Russell. DreamWorks Pictures held the World Premiere of REAL STEEL on October 2nd at the Gibson Amphitheatre, Universal Citywalk in Universal City. On the Citywalk stage two of the robots stood for people to take pictures with. REAL STEEL is set in the near future where 2000 lb. robot fighters have replaced humans in the boxing rings.
