In MOB CITY, running on TNT in two-hour blocks Wednesdays at 9 PM, executive producer/director/writer Frank Darabont has adapted John Buntin’s book L.A. NOIR as a drama about the struggle between righteous cops, renegade officers and outright mobsters in 1940s Los Angeles. Some characters, like LAPD Chief William Parker (played by Neal McDonough) and gangsters Ben “Bugsy” Siegel (Edward Burns) and Mickey Cohen (Jeremy Luke), are historical figures. Paramount Pictures recently held the Los Angeles Premiere of JACKASS PRESENTS: BAD GRANDPA at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Fans were across from where I was and the electronic press, besides lining the streets of Hollywood. Before the stars arrived girls dressed as Candy Stripers in a white and red uniforms carrying candy trays walked the carpet and gave none of us candy! Bringing out this beanbag-throwing thing with a hole in it the Candy Stripers entertained themselves throwing beanbags through the hole. These were set up in various places. Summit Entertainment held the Los Angeles Premiere on July 11th of RED 2 at the Westwood Village Theatre in Westwood. Closing the streets by the theatre, which was lined with fans that screamed when the stars arrived and hoped to get autographs or take a picture with the stars. Disney • Pixar held the World Premiere of MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, June 17th at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
