HBO’s Sunday-night half-hour comedy CAMPING is based on a British series of the same name, which was created by Julia Davis. Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, who both serve as executive producers on the new edition, adapted the American version for HBO. Jennifer Garner stars as ultra-controlling Kathryn McSorley-Jodell, who plans a group camping trip to celebrate the fortieth birthday of mild-mannered husband Walt (David Tennant). The excursion brings out the worst in everyone. Konner, who was also a executive producer on HBO’s GIRLS with Dunham (the two ended their creative partnership earlier this year), directed several episodes of CAMPING, […]Read On »

The CW’s SUPERGIRL, in its third season on Monday nights and renewed for a fourth, is part of the network’s DC-verse, a slate that also includes ARROW, THE FLASH, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, and BLACK LIGHTNING. The headline extraterrestrials in SUPERGIRL are obviously Kryptonians – Supergirl, aka Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist), Kara’s slightly less-famous cousin Mon-El (Chris Wood) and Kara’s slightly more famous cousin, recurring guest character Kal-El, aka Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), to say nothing of their sometimes adversarial relatives. However, SUPERGIRL also has Martians. First, there was the Department of Extraterrestrial Affairs director Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), who turned out […]Read On »

While there are plenty of ethical doctors and nurses around (played by Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal and Shaunette Renee Wilson, among others), THE RESIDENT also gets into a subject most other shows in the genre avoid like the plague: medical bills. Merrin Dungey (the “g” is soft) plays hospital CEO Claire Thorpe, whose job it is to maximize profits. Dungey, […]Read On »

There were some decent aspects to REVOLUTION this week but as with most of the episodes so far this season, “Sex and Drugs” also had some pointless and fairly stupid aspects as well.
