Russell T. Davies, the man most directly responsible for the resurrection of the DOCTOR WHO franchise in 2005, was on hand at the Television Critic’s Association to promote his upcoming fourth season of TORCHWOOD, also a WHO connected show. And, of course, ASSIGNMENT X couldn’t resist asking his thoughts on the new DOCTOR WHO series post his exit. “Of course I love it! Stephen Moffat’s most important role is to get me a DVD before that Saturday of transmission,” says Davies. “This new season it’s going to go out on BBC America on the same day, but I still want […]Read On »

It took a little time, but it looks like Starz has its new Spartacus for its popular TV series SPARTACUS. And the actor chosen to replace Andy Whitfield (health issues forced him to bow out of the series) is Liam McIntyre. Hiring McIntyre makes some sense – he’s an Australian actor who lives in New Zealand where the series films and he was recently seen in HBO’s THE PACIFIC. “Since no one can really replace Andy, we realized that we should instead find an actor who can truly lead SPARTACUS forward,” Starz, LLC, President and CEO Chris Albrecht said today […]Read On »

THE SOCIAL NETWORK movie poster | © 2010 Sony Pictures

If you didn’t watch last night’s 2011 Golden Globe Awards, you probably missed one of the most uncomfortably bizarre telecasts in Globe history. Host Ricky Gervais skewered the Hollywood elite in ways that clearly made everyone nervous (and a little miffed) in the room. Of course, it was fun and unpredictable, which is why the Globes are inherently more entertainment than the more buttoned down Oscar telecast which arrives a month later, but don’t expect Gervais to be asked back for a third time next year. As for the winners, there were a few surprises (THE KING’S SPEECH took home […]Read On »

In terms of changes on NIKITA in the latter half of the season, expect the character of Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) to be leaving the Division and teaming up with Nikita in the field. “Alex graduates to full agent and the show shifts quite a bit when it happens,” says Fonseca. “She faces a lot more […]Read On »

This is what she had to say … “It’s pretty bittersweet,” says Durance who plays Lois Lane. “There’s so much work to do, to look forward to the end, you miss doing justice to the scenes you’re working on. You want to do justice, but there are moments you think, ‘My god, this is the last time I’m going to work with you?’ And I remember doing a scene with Allison Mack and […]Read On »

There’s been rumors about a third THE X-FILES movie for some time, and while promoting his hit Showtime series CALIFORNICATION, David Duchovny spoke with ASSIGNMENT X briefly about the status of the project. “There is no deal at this point,” Duchovny told us exclusively. “It’s something I would do in a second and I know Chris [Carter] and Gillian [Anderson] would be interested.” The second X-FILES movie took time to gestate, and the lack of boxoffice heat on that one has slowed things down and Duchovny admits it’s in Fox’s court now. “It’s really just a matter of generating interest […]Read On »
