This project, set to air in May 14, celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Johnny Carson taking over THE TONIGHT SHOW from Jack Paar and changing the face of late night forever. During the Winter 2012 TCAs this week, PBS revealed that Ken Burns will be a big part of their programming for years to come. “I refer to it as our ‘marriage contract’ otherwise known as ‘’till death do us part,’” says PBS CEO and President Paula Kerger. “We have a long-term relationship with him which we created because so many of the projects that he works on are large and epic,” says Kerger. TCA News: PBS talks about Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney calling for end to federal funding of the broadcaster

At PBS’s winter TCA press tour, the broadcaster’s President and CEO Paula Kerger responded to potential Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s call to end Federal funding and suggesting PBS start running ads. Kerger says that it’s wonderful that Romney says he likes public broadcasting, she did note that the Federal investment is rather minimal when you break it all down. “We try to leverage it very carefully and it amounts to about $1.35 a person per year,” says Kerger. “We have always had bipartisan support, and I know that this is a period in our country’s history where, as a […]Read On »

PBS kicked off the Winter 2012 Television Critics Association this week with its executive session with President and CEO Paula Kerger. It’s been ten years since Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones put on their suits and fought aliens, now they’re back in black with MEN IN BLACK 3 directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (who helmed the previous films). The new trailer just hit the web which incorporates time travel into the mix and a young 1969 version of Jones’ Agent K played by Josh Brolin.
