It’s Freaky Friday on DANCING WITH THE STARS – well, not really but there was a great switch up tonight, an interesting and successful experiment for sure. The great switch-up – where for just one week they switch partners and see how it goes – went surprisingly well . Even though there were some definite personality differences, it makes you realize that the producers do know what they are doing when it comes to matching the duos up in the first place. Still, it was fun to see some awkward happenings and unique moments with the mix ups, definitely something they should do again.

The night, again, belonged to Meryl Davis who changed one Chmerkovskiy for another. She and Val scored the top marks of the night with an almost perfect 39 out of 40. While her usual partner Maks paired up with Danica McKellar – Val’s regular partner – earned 32 points for the week. James Maslow danced with Cheryl Burke and earned a 35, landing him in second place. Amy Purdy Salsa’d with Mark Ballas and came in third with a respectable 34 points. The bigger shock was seeing Candace Cameron Bure continue to earn low scores. She ended the night in last place this week when she Quickstepped with Tony Dovolani and received just 28 points. I am sure she can’t wait to get back to Ballas. In fact, as polite as all the stars were with their “temporary” partners, it was obvious they were ready to go home again and re-team up with their official dance buddy.

Tony certainly brought something different out of her. Carrie Ann Inaba called her Quickstep fun. Len Goodman said it was hair raising. Guest judge Julianne Hough said it was too gaped. Bruno Tonioli said that she went for it.
