Finally, the Season 6 AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Semi Finals are here!

Twelve acts performed on AGT tonight hoping for a shot at the finals. Five will go through tomorrow night and for the other seven the journey comes to an end for good. Most of the acts stepped it up and deemed themselves worthy of their semi finals placement. However, others botched it completely.

In particular, Sandou Trio Russian Bar went way off the deep end with their act and practically threw away their chances of moving on in the competition. What were they thinking? They got to the semi finals with their act and then they created an entirely different act – and a much, much, less impressive one at that – to perform for the semi finals. Huh?

Piers Morgan did not lay off the buzzer tonight. Besides buzzing the STRB group, Morgan also buzzed You Tube singer Kevin Colis, who didn’t step it either. Howie Mandel buzzed no one. Sharon Osbourne felt no need to slam on the buzzer either but it’s not up to them, is it? What did you think America?

Zuma Zuma (acrobatic dancers)
Morgan: Terrific performance
Osbourne: I think you’re all made out of rubber.
Mandel: It didn’t have the same energy as the previous performance.
Harland: So flexible, so pliable…it’s plastic men!
Chances of getting through: Good

Beth Ann Robinson (dancer)
Morgan: I don’t think we’ve had many technically better dancers on the show.
Osbourne: Another flawless performance
Mandel: Beautiful!
Harland: She is a very good solo act but is that enough to keep the audience in rapt?
Chances of getting through: Good

Sandou Trio Russian Bar (tightrope performers)
Morgan: X Biggest suicide mission ever on the show
Osbourne: Disappointing
Mandel: I don’t think you made a good choice.
Harland: A completely different act…and a not very good one with a not very good singer. What?
Chances of getting through: Slim

Kevin Colis (singer)
Morgan: X I felt the occasion may be a bit too big for you.
Osbourne: It reminded me of The Wiggles.
Mandel: I don’t think you are up to par with the rest of the acts.
Harland: Sweet, but not good enough
Chances of getting through: Slim

Matt Wilhelm (florescent bike stunt act)
Morgan: It is repetitive.
Osbourne: I’m really sad you fell.
Mandel: I’m a huge fan of yours but it’s not the time now to make a mistake.
Harland: He fell…over and out.
Chances of getting through: Slim

PopLyfe (musical group)
Morgan: We are watching a band that is going to be huge.
Osbourne: You get better and better.
Mandel: You brought it!
Harland: They definitely have a gimmick – 70s punk rock look.
Chances of getting through: Great

West Springfield Dance Team (zombie dance troupe)
Morgan: I thought the performance was better than the last 2.
Osbourne: You pulled it off again.
Mandel: You stand out!
Harland: Good choreography
Chances of getting through: Great

Melissa Villasenor (comedian)
Morgan: Great time management
Osbourne: You did so well.
Mandel: I’m a huge fan.
Harland: Better than last time but her impressions are good, the jokes only so-so.
Chances of getting through: Good

Team Iluminate (florescent dance troupe)
Morgan: Very different, very exciting
Osbourne: You should have been famous forever ago!
Mandel: I just watched a million dollars!
Harland: I didn’t like it as much this time. It was kinda all over the place.
Chances of getting through: Great

Daniel Joseph Baker (singer)
Morgan: You are a pure Vegas showman.
Osbourne: Mrs. O just loves you so much.
Mandel: You are a star!
Harland: He’s got “it”!
Chances of getting through: Great

Miami All Stars (dance troupe)
Morgan: I think that was my favorite performance of the night.
Osbourne: I thought I was watching a movie.
Mandel: I hope America votes.
Harland: I kept wanting more even though it was really good.
Chances of getting through: Great

Lys Agnes (singer)
Morgan: Finally you do something that moves me.
Osbourne: Just when I thought I had seen it all.
Mandel: You are a classic beauty.
Harland: She has an incredible voice. It’s as simple as that.
Chances of getting through: Great

Tomorrow night will be very tough. In fact, this week might be the toughest week yet. No other AGT show provided such a high standard of entertainment. Usually it’s hard to pick four worthy of moving forward. Tonight, it will be hard to pick just five acts to move on! The most likely of the 12 to move forward might be Team Illuminate, PopLyfe, Daniel Joseph Baker, Miami All Stars and Lys Agnes. Stay tuned!

  1. Of the 5 slots in play, I believe four are sewed up. These 4 are all but guaranteed a spot. (Imho)
    1. Poplyte
    2. Miami all stars
    3. Team illuminate
    4. Lyz Agnes

So that leaves one spot unclaimed.

    1. West Springfield
    2. Daniel
    3. Melissa
    4. Beth Ann
    5. Zuna zuma
    6. Kevin Colis

What Sandou did was pretty shocking. Less so, if there was a high demand for upside down piano players. It was kind of like watching a suicide live. Now you see them, now they are GONE!! POOF.

The 5th spot, probably goes to Daniel or WSDT. Personally, the zombie dance schtick has gotten pretty stale. I suspect they are getting a high percentage of the 10-16 age group. Far less from other ages. My guess, is Daniel nips them in a tight vote.

  2. Kevin Colis did such a great job with the previous performance but Howie is right that the other performers have had a lot of practice that he hasn’t had. I think the song choice is most important and he has a certain style that lends itself to folksy songs and he chose the right song in my opinion.
