Exclusive Interview: David Bradley on AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME and being the first Who – PART 1

AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME | ©2013 BBCAmerica

British actor David Bradley has just hit a fandom trifecta (there isn’t a the fandom trifecta – there will never be just three): he was the unhappily non-magical custodian Filch in the HARRY POTTER films, he continues as the indelible Walder Frey, host of the Red Wedding, on HBO’s GAME OF THRONES, and now he’s part of the DOCTOR WHO universe. Once upon a time, hard as it may be to recall and longer ago than many Whovians have been alive, DOCTOR WHO quite simply did not exist. It was brought into being in 1963 by a team including producer […]Read On »

AMERICAN IDOL Season 11 Recap: Phillip Phillips slays Jessica Sanchez to become the frontrunner for the Season 11 victory

AMERICAN IDOL has become more predictable as it ages. And if anyone thinks Jessica Sanchez is going to win over Phillip Phillips is seriously mistaken. The Tween girls rule IDOL, which is why cute guys tend to win the show over cute girls. This year however, if you compare the two finalists and the songs they sang, it was obvious, one was the clear winner. And your winner, though not yet crowned, is Phillip Phillips. Yes, there could be some producer trickery and Sanchez could pull an upset, but it would be insincere to say the least. The rundown of […]Read On »

AMERICAN IDOL Season 11 Recap: Joshua Ledet kicked off with Phillips and Sanchez the Final 2

Joshua Ledet is eliminated on AMERICAN IDOL - Season 11 | ©2012 Fox/Frank Micelotta

In what has become one of the most boring AMERICAN IDOL competitions since Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox battled it out on Season 9, the reality show competition whittled down the contestants from three to two with Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez. That meant the powerhouse singer with the golden Gospel voice Joshua Ledet was eliminated. Jennifer Lopez was in tears as Ledet sang his swan song, “It’s A Man’s, Man’s World” and brought his mom up on stage. Meanwhile, Phillips and Sanchez breathed a sigh of relief going into next week which, not surprising, will see Phillips take the […]Read On »

AMERICAN IDOL Season 11 Recap: Hollie Cavanaugh Kicked Off, 3 left

Hollie Cavanaugh hugs Ryan Seacrest as she is kicked off AMERICAN IDOL Season 11 | (c) 2012 Michael Becker / FOX

Cast: Ryan Seacrest, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson Network: Fox, airs Wednesdays and Thursdays @ 8 p.m. Original Telecast: May 10, 2012 After Hillbilly Hoedown was voted off last week on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL, it was down to four left on the show. But who went home? By now, you know that Hollie Cavanaugh was the one kicked off the show leaving Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet as the Top-3 on the show. Rightly so, Hollie was in the bottom pretty much the entire show it seems (maybe escaping once or twice) and […]Read On »

AMERICAN IDOL Season 11 recap: Skylar Laine Kicked Off, Four Left

Skylar Laine and Hollie Cavanaugh wait for the final results on AMERICAN IDOL Season 11 | (c) 2012 Fox

Cast: Ryan Seacrest, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson Network: Fox, airs Wednesdays and Thursdays @ 8 p.m. Original Telecast: May 3, 2012 After tonight there were only four contestants left on the world’s greatest karaoke competition, AMERICAN IDOL. But who got the boot? By now, you know that Skylar Laine was kicked off the show with Hollie Cavanaugh also in the bottom. I’ll get to how the results were broken down and as usual I will spare you all the fluff including two performances from Coldplay (which is actually pretty cool), a performance from former IDOL winner Carrie Underwood, […]Read On »

THE X FACTOR Season 1 Recap: Nothing to Crow about as Rachel Crow gets her heart ripped out by Nicole Scherzinger

Rachel Crow (pictured here with host Steve Jones) is eliminated from THE X FACTOR - Season 1 - Top 5 week | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

Network: Fox Original Telecast: November 30, 2011 Here’s the problem with having 13, 14, or 15 year olds competing on reality programs – they’re not mature enough and emotionally not ready to take on the big hurdles these kind of shows present. And THE X FACTOR has proven all season, its youngest contestants may be talented, but to be thrust into the dog eat dog world of the entertainment industry is a dangerous, slippery slope. First, we had the arrogance of Astro refusing to perform when he was in the bottom one week. Last week, the judges unfairly ousted Drew […]Read On »

TV Review: THE X FACTOR – Season 1 – “The Top 5 Perform” Recap

Chris Rene in THE X FACTOR - Season 1 - "The Top 5 Perform" | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

Network: Fox Original Telecast: December 7, 2011 THE X FACTOR is down to the Final Five, and I’m so bored with the remaining contestants, going into the latest episode, I was prepared to be bored to tears. After Drew got the boot last week (my fave singer), the five remaining have a lot to prove. Usually I list the judges comments, but it doesn’t matter what they really say tonight. Last week they proved they’re in it for themselves – not for voting for who is most deserving. Yet, even more so, what is necessary now, is to determine and […]Read On »

THE X FACTOR Season 1 Recap: Astro beats it, and sadly, Drew does too

Drew (next to her mentor Simon Cowell) is eliminated on THE X FACTOR - Season 1 - "The Top 7 elimination" | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

Network: Fox Original Telecast: November 30, 2011 THE X FACTOR did its second week of double eliminations during “The Top 7 Perform – Michael Jackson Tribute Week,” with one person who you expected to be booted off and another who was a complete surprise. The four people that made it through easily – Chris Rene, Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik, Rachel Crow. Then, came the automatic booting off of Astro. It was finally his time and surprisingly he was grateful, even as he was ushered off the stage (a complete about face from his attitude two weeks ago). This left Marcus […]Read On »

TV Review: THE X FACTOR – Season 1 – “The Top 7 Perform” Recap of Michael Jackson week

Drew in THE X FACTOR - Season 1 - "The Top 7 Perform" | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

Network: Fox Original Telecast: November 30, 2011 I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. PLEASE put a moratorium on “Beatles” week and “Michael Jackson” week on these competition shows. It’s overdone. Yes, there’s a Michael Jackson Vegas Cirque du Soleil thing going on in Vegas right now, but do we really need to need more butchering of Jackson’s music? Thankfully, there weren’t a lot of obvious songs in the mix on this week’s THE X FACTOR which is now whittled down to The Top 7, but where was the singing? Once again Astro raps (yes, I get that’s all […]Read On »

TV Review: THE X FACTOR – Season 1 – “The Top 9 Perform” Recap

Melanie Amaro performs on THE X FACTOR - Season 1 - "The Top 9 Perform" | ©2011 Fox/Ray Mickshaw

Judges: Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Antonio Reid, Nicole Scherzinger Network: Fox Original Telecast: November 22, 2011 THE X FACTOR was all about giving thanks this week, with the contestants picking songs that mean something to them and inspired them the most. Of course there was the good, the bad and the emotional – and picking on singers now feels like I’m taking cheap shots with it being an inspirational week, but with two people going home this week, there isn’t time for people to skate by. Every note, every song choice, every statement uttered is going to determine he should […]Read On »
