ABC’s hit show CASTLE, wrapping up its third season Mondays at 10 PM and coming back for a fourth season, is named for its hero. Nathan Fillion’s Richard Castle is a hugely successful NY-based mystery novelist who lives with his mother Martha (Susan Sullivan) and teenaged daughter Alexis (Molly Quinn). He has become unofficial partner to NYPD homicide detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), who treats Castle with a combination of affection, annoyance and attraction as he trails her, ostensibly as inspiration for his writing, but clearly more because he just enjoys her company. On ABC’s Monday 10 PM hit CASTLE, now wrapping its third season and renewed for a fourth, Stana Katic’s NYPD detective has an affectionate if often adversarial relationship with Nathan Fillion’s writer Richard Castle. On screen, Castle uses the no-nonsense Beckett as the model for his new literary heroine Nikki Heat. “Knockdown” is not your typical episode of CASTLE. The usually light-hearted whodunnit with a hint of will they/won’t they goes to the dark side as Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) gets some more tidbits about her mother’s murder.

Oh, and things are heating up between her and writer/hanger on Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion), but forget cutesy romance, the heat has everything to do with why the wealthy best-selling author is spending so much time going out on homicide cases. Hint – it isn’t merely heat.
