DVD/Digital Release Review: THE INTRUDERS

THE INTRUDERS | © 2015 Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

Rating: PG-13 Stars: Miranda Cosgrove, Donal Logue, Austin Butler, Tom Sizemore, Jenessa Grant, Michael Luckett Writer: Jason Juravic Director: Adam Massey Distributor: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Release Date: February 24, 2015 The new release THE INTRUDERS, not to be confused with either 2012’s feature INTRUDERS or 2014’s BBC series INTRUDERS, is a fairly generic PG-13 thriller. It’s not a worst-case scenario of the form, by any means, but it steadfastly fails to gain traction as it goes along. College student Rose Halshford (Miranda Cosgrove), on a leave of absence from study, is moved by her architect father Jerry (Donal Logue) […]Read On »

Rating: PG Stars (voices): Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand Writers: Ken Daurio & Cinco Paul Directors: Pierre Coffin & Chris Renaud Distributor: Universal Release Date: July 3, 2013 Between the 2010 release of the original DESPICABLE ME and its new sequel, DESPICABLE ME 2, the filmmakers seem to have figured out that their primary selling point is not their main character Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), now a reformed villain and not the, well, despicable figure he was in the original. It’s not even the trio of cute little girls he adopted last time around. […]Read On »

DVD Review: iCARLY: THE COMPLETE 3rd SEASON

iCARLY: THE COMPLETE 3RD SEASON DVD | ©2011 Paramount Home Entertainment

Cast: Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Noah Munck Distributor: Paramount Home Entertainment Suggested Retail Price: $19.99 I hate to admit it, but Nickelodeon’s iCARLY has proven to be one of the best sitcoms around. It’s traditional in its structure, and yes it’s geared toward Tweens, but it’s above and beyond many sitcoms on Network TV and it puts most of Disney’s Tween-coms to shame. Why it works is creator Dan Schneider’s knack for telling strange, bizarre stories within traditional sitcom framework. iCARLY is centered around teenager Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) who is the host of a popular Internet show […]Read On »

CD Review: Miranda Cosgrove – HIGH MAINTENANCE

Miranda Cosgrove - HIGH MAINTENANCE E.P. | ©2011 Sony Music

Distributor: Sony Music Suggested Retail Price: $9.78 Out of all the tween singing princesses spawned from Disney Channel/Nickelodeon shows, Miranda Cosgrove has the most potential to break out and have a pretty sturdy musical career long after her core audience has moved on. Last year’s SPARKS FLY was an excellent debut CD from the iCARLY star that mixed 1980s pop and techno with a modern sensibility. There were a bunch of great tunes on that disc including “Sparks Fly,” “Disgusting” and “Shakespeare” and now she’s looking to take things to the next level with her five-song E.P. HIGH MAINTENANCE. Avril […]Read On »
